If you are a UFC fan, out of all of the thousands that were invited to the Netflix special, The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady,  Dana White must have certainly stood out. The UFC supremo was roasted along with the UFC special table members, and he was one of the roasters himself. Witnessing the CEO of the biggest promotion trying his hands on stand-up was not on anyone’s bucket list but well, it happened.

However, Dana White was a bit agitated by the fact that Netflix only gave a minute to him to put on his roast, “It pisses me off. I flew all the way out here, and you guys give me 60 seconds? The Netflix special was one of the biggest shows which attracted a diverse viewership. It garnered a massive 2 million viewers on Netflix on the Debut night concluding other viewership records. In conclusion, it was a massive success for Tom Brady as well as Netflix but according to Dana White, such type of comedy can have a harsher side as well.

According to Dana White shows like these can either make or break a stand-up comedian’s career. The head honcho of UFC recently sat with Wiz Khalifa, Steve-O & Sloane Stephens on ‘The Shop’ podcast. Amidst the conversation, the group delved into the topic of language and identity in comedy, which induced the CEO to talk about his time on ‘The Greatest Roast of All Time’, “You know, kind of opportunities for comedians to, you know, if you can be a part of something like that. Those roasts are so huge. Those, those make or break careers,” said White.

Right after that confession, Sean O’Malley, who was having a makeover on the show chimed in to ask the UFC CEO a question, “Do you get any more opportunities from that, Dana? I saw your minute. Do you get any more opportunities? It’s funny.” Dana White was quick to state that he won’t be doing stand-up for quite some time, “you’ll never see me doing comedy ever again.”

Dana White’s words draw us back to Joe Rogan‘s own Netflix special ‘Burn The Boats’ that happened last week. The multi-million dollar podcaster stood up at the Netflix stand-up stage for the first time after 2016. The color commentator was excited to be on the Netflix stage after his successful gigs with the entity but it appears to have backfired on the comedian. Why? Let’s find out.

Joe Rogan’s Netflix stint draws criticism

Dana White’s comments on ‘The Shop’ podcast find their best example in Joe Rogan’s recent gig at Netflix. The multi-million dollar podcaster embraced the Netflix stage with most of the jokes about transgender issues, pandemics, vaccines, and conspiracy theories deemed offensive. The podcaster never really made fun of the transgender issue in America, he rather expressed his support for the community and advocated rights for them.

In addition to that, Rogan faced multiple glitches in his hour-long speech ranging from audio issues, mouth movements not syncing with speech, and phrases repeating. Regardless, what made his special more criticized by certain groups of people is the Chinese-American accents, the gags about pregnant men, the shout-outs to Alex Jones and Elon Musk.

Regardless, despite being criticized by the masses, Joe Rogan’s special is riding to become number #1 on the US charts. What’s your take on Dana White’s statement and Joe Rogan’s special? State your thoughts in the comments below.
