Israel Adesanya has registered his 20th pro MMA win and a second successful title defense in UFC by knocking out Paulo Costa in tonight’s headliner.

While fans expected the fight to go to the distance, it was an elementary work for Adesanya who picked up the win in the second round. Following a dominant performance in the first, it was a matter of time until Adesanya shut force on his Brazilian rival. Resembling his KO win over Robert Whittaker, Adesanya knocked out Costa in a similar manner.

No wonder he is still the champion and the ultimate middleweight in the UFC roster. That said, who’s next for the ‘Last Stylebender’? While there are plenty of options, Dana White has already named the next opponent in the line for Adesanya.

Israel Adesanya is never out of Challenges

In the post-fight press conference of UFC 253, Dana White revealed why he likes Adesanya.

In just two years, ‘Izzy’ has become one of the top-rated stars in the promotion. He has never turned down fights. Moreover, the Nigerian-born New Zealander has always been keen on accepting new challenges. Following his sensational KO win over Paulo Costa, Israel Adesanya has his eyes on Jared Cannonier next.

When Dana White was asked about the possible middleweight thriller, he replied, “Yeah I mean that’s the fight if Cannonier wins, and I love that about Israel you know, he is ready to for who’s next, who else thinks that they can beat me.

However, former champion Robert Whittaker can also slide into the mix. ‘The Reaper’ will face Jared Cannonier in the co-main event of UFC 254 on October 24. The winner of the fight will possibly challenge for the middleweight title next. If Cannonier fails to vanquish Whittaker, then he would have to wait further for a title shot.

In the meantime, Whittaker can stage an epic rematch with Adesanya, an opportunity to get back his middleweight strap. However, the champion has his eyes set on Cannonier. Thus, the ‘Killa Gorilla’ will just have to pass an adversary in Whittaker to lock horns with Adesanya in the future.
