MMA fighter Bo Nickal amazed fans with his latest performance. He fought Zachary Borrego on Dana White’s Contender Series 49 and submitted him in just the first round. Yet his dominant performance didn’t earn him a UFC contract. Dana White, who appeared in a new ‘Yahoo! Sports’ interview with Kevin Iole spoke about Nickal.

He said, “First of all, the kid was 1-0. You know what I mean? I haven’t brought a guy in the 1-0 since, like, Brock Lesnar. And to give him two dates on the contender series, don’t feel too sorry for him.”
“He’s going to do just fine. But his next opponent is somebody with a lot more experience. So he’s going to take on somebody with a lot more experience and we’ll see what he does.”

“And I will determine that night if he’s ready to come in into the UFC at 2-0.”
Iole felt that fighters like Luke Rockhold were talking about Nickal and hence, it was a sign that he was a good fighter. To this White responded, “… it’s hard to say. … You want to move people the right way. You don’t want to you know, move anybody too fast and stuff like that.”

White was of the opinion that Nickal’s performance was ‘phenomenal’. However, he also wants the athlete to step up in competition before making an entry into the UFC.
Bo Nickal on Dana White not giving him a contract
The MMA athlete did not receive a contract, but he isn’t too concerned. In the post-fight interview, Nickal said he was grateful for the opportunity.

He said his goal wasn’t to just become a UFC fighter. Instead, he wants to become a UFC champion and the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world. As a result, he doesn’t care if he needs to get in more fights in order to get the contract.
While the middleweight was nervous before his DWCS fight, he was happy with the outcome of the fight.
