“Dana, please, bro. Please! I’m training,” said Jon Jones to Dana White, pleading with the UFC CEO to put him on the White House card. The 56-year-old has time and time again dismissed any chance of putting his favorite and best pound-for-pound fighter on next year’s big event due to issues with reliability. Meanwhile, UFC legend and commentator Michael Bisping believes that Jones is just putting up an act.

Jon Jones has previously mentioned his wish to fight Alex Pereira, a big-money fight that would also add to his legacy. And after ‘Poatan’s UFC 320 success, he too expressed the same sentiment, wanting to headline the White House card. Many, including Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, want to see Jones fight at the Oval Office campus. However, Michael Bisping believes he needs to cater to his old business first before calling for next year’s June 14 mega event.

Michael Bisping wants Dana White to make Jon Jones fight Tom Aspinall first
‘The Count’ has warned Dana White about the way he approaches Jon Jones and his plea to fight at the White House, even though a fight against Alex Pereira would do great numbers for the UFC. “This is a superfight of epic proportions… if I was running the promotion… I’d say, ‘Alright, okay, I’ll call your bluff,'” Michael Bisping stated on his YouTube channel. Besides, ‘Bones’ has been talking about fighting, but he hasn’t fulfilled his obligations in the division he has competed in recently.
Michael Bisping believes that Jon Jones should fight Tom Aspinall first because that’s the one fight that Dana White had talked about after UFC 309. However, following the entire debacle at UFC 321, with the eye poke situation, a rematch is likely on the cards. And if the results of that fight witness Ciryl Gane coming out on top, he could take Aspinall’s spot to fight Jones once again.
“Jon Jones, you want to fight at the White House? Fair enough. Fight Tom Aspinall. Fight the guy you were supposed to… Now, of course, he’s got to fight Ciryl Gane first… A lot of people talking s–t about Tom Aspinall,” Michael Bisping added. “If I’m running the UFC, I’ll say, ‘Okay, okay. Sure enough. You want to fight, fight Tom Aspinall, or fight the winner of Tom Aspinall vs Ciryl Gane.”

Jon Jones has beaten Ciryl Gane already, and as far as Tom Aspinall is concerned, ‘Bones’ believes he shouldn’t be that big of a challenge. Why? That’s because the former two-weight champion saw enough of the Englishman’s fighting skills after his UFC 321 performance.

Jones trashes Aspinall’s anticlimactic title defense
Tom Aspinall really left a certain section of the MMA community unimpressed at UFC 321, including Jon Jones. The consensus greatest of all time is convinced that, apart from a few striking tricks, the reigning heavyweight champion doesn’t really have a ground game. Aspinall’s lackluster one-round performance against Ciryl Gane has made Jones realize that he’s not really on his level.
“Tom’s a great athlete, but I do feel like he’s a one-trick pony. I believe that his wrestling and jiu-jitsu are incredibly overrated. He has a beautiful one-two [combination]. I got to learn a lot about his patterns in his last fight,” Jon Jones stated on the No Scripts podcast. ” That’s really about it. That’s the one thing that he’s setting up real nice. He couldn’t touch Ciryl Gane at all. That’s the way I felt.”

Jon Jones has taken every chance to put Tom Aspinall on blast, and UFC 321 seemed to be one of those perfect opportunities. The one problem that might have plagued Jones about fighting the Brit was the absence of tape to study. Aspinall has the shortest average UFC fight time at around two minutes. No one ever took him to deep waters to expose his weaknesses. His last legitimate loss was almost a decade ago.
Interestingly enough, he’s also lost a bout by landing an illegal 12-6 elbow, just like Jones. But against Gane, we saw Tom getting busted up and outworked from range. When he started showing signs of life, the eye poke happened. But Jones believes he saw enough.
It is clear that Jon Jones wants the same thing Alex Pereira does: a fight at the White House. But what will Dana White do when we approach the show next year? Give us your predictions in the comments below.
