With the UFC looking forward to conducting the still unofficial White House card next year, the Jon Jones vs Alex Pereira dream matchup has become the frontrunner to headline the event. Although ‘Poatan’ has shown strong interest in fighting the greatest of all time, possibly in the most lucrative bout of his career, the former heavyweight champ’s strained relationship with the UFC CEO over not taking the Aspinall fight made things a little troublesome. However, the head honcho’s recent revelation has pushed things toward a real possibility of this superfight.

Even though Dana White had doubts about trusting Jon Jones with an event as grand as the White House show, the former champ didn’t stop playing his cards, throwing multiple apologies the UFC boss’s way. Finally, ‘Bones’ accepted that he made a mistake by not accepting the fight against the Brit. On the No Script podcast, Jones said, “We had a verbal agreement that didn’t go over well. Nothing was finalized. But I was wrong. The way things went down, I was wrong.” And after that apology, the CEO seemed to have changed his mind.

Dana White finally accepts Jon Jones’ apology ahead of the White House event

Dana White told TMZ Sports in a recent interview, “Yeah, yeah, yeah… absolutely. Listen, he doesn’t need to apologize to me for anything. Even… you know… the bad stuff Jon and I have gone through, I still say Jon Jones is the greatest of all time. Because it’s a fact. Everybody starts laughing when I say it. Jon Jones is the greatest of all time, period. End of story. I know it, and everybody else knows it. So, there’s nothing for Jon to apologize.”

Now, the UFC CEO definitely had a drastic change of mind here. With the promotion looking forward to starting their Paramount+ CBS era in less than two months, the projected American Independence Day spectacle will also come soon. Moreover, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Jon Jones is one of the biggest MMA stars in the country, and with the UFC lacking American champions, they definitely needed him to star in the event.

That said, Alex Pereira has already called out ‘Bones’ a couple of times, notably at the UFC 320 octagon interview, and recently from the Coliseum, saying, “Jon Jones. White House. Chama.” So, with Dana White actually giving a green light to Jon Jones returning at the White House, this blockbuster matchup seems to be looking more realistic than ever, and it’s not only the fans who’re on board with this development.

Even former UFC champ Francis Ngannou believes Jon Jones and Alex Pereira would be a really amazing fight, calling it the second most intriguing superfight.

Francis Ngannou calls ‘Bones’ vs ‘Poatan’ not the biggest fight ever

Jon Jones and Alex Pereira are currently the two biggest superstars in the UFC, and their collision at the White House could shatter every viewing record there is. However, there’s still doubt among fans about the competitive quality of this matchup, recognizing that ‘Bones’ would be ‘Poatan’s nightmare opponent because of his grappling. That’s why many don’t fully see it as a spectacle. And former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has also hinted at the same.

According to an MMA Weekly article, ‘The Predator’ said, “Yeah, if [Jon Jones and Alex Pereira] are fighting, I’m going to turn on my clock to watch that fight. But, it’s not like, ‘Wow, okay, this is the fight.’ You know? If you want to see the biggest [event] of all time, you make it the biggest. The biggest fight of all time can only happen with Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. That’s all what I can say about that.”

Although Ngannou didn’t outright mention it, it seems he’s interested in fighting Jon Jones at the White House. The pair have flirted with each other for a long time to get a fight, but it never materialized after the Cameroonian powerhouse left the UFC. Still, when Ngannou’s UFC comeback rumors recently got stronger, Jones also took to X and wrote, “I’m hearing Francis Ngannou is still interested. Now we’re talking,” which ‘Bones’ posted when his rivalry with Aspinall was at its peak.

So, with the UFC White House card still waiting to receive its official stamp, the possibilities of something surprising happening are still wide open. With that said, do you think Jon Jones will actually come forward to headline the event? Let us know in the comments section below.
