Diaz last fought the former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, at UFC 183 on January 31, 2015. He put up a great fight against ‘The Spider’. However, Diaz lost the bout via a unanimous decision. Later, the bout was overturned by NSAC and declared as a no contest.

Okamoto said – “NOT OFFICIAL. But UFC president Dana White tells TSN the promotion is targeting a fight between Nick Diaz and Robbie Lawler in September. All three sides have been in contact about this one for a while. Lawler wants it, per sources. If it does get made, it would be a rematch of a fight from 17 years ago…”.
