UFC 300 is shaping up to be a great card, as we have one more fight on our hands. Former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will go head-to-head against former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at the triple-century event in April. However, the fans appeared to be concerned about ‘No Love’s chances of defeating ‘Deus Da Guerra’.

After he lost the bantamweight title to TJ Dillashaw, Cody Garbrandt’s UFC career went downhill. However, 2023 was the year of resurgence for him, as he secured two wins in a row. Now, Garbrandt’s 2024 will start with a fight against a bantamweight newcomer. But why are UFC followers fearing for an in-form Garbrandt?

A couple of years ago, Cody Garbrandt wanted to fight Deiveson Figueiredo for the flyweight title. However, ‘No Love’ had no success at flyweight. On top of that, the Brazilian fighter recently moved up to the bantamweight division (after his own inconsistent form at 125 lbs) and put on a clinic against Rob Font, securing a unanimous decision win on his 135-pound debut.

Now, Figueiredo will be taking on an experienced bantamweight in Garbrandt. ‘Deus Da Guerra’ already has a win under his belt and there is a chance that two back-to-back wins could result in him chasing another title.

Meanwhile, ‘No Love’ just revived his UFC career. He had an abysmal run from 2017 to 2021, which he bettered with two consecutive wins in 2023, for the first time in over six years. Now, Garbrandt also has a chance to get back into title contention if he can overcome Deiveson Figueiredo.

While the fight could essentially be an explosive winner-takes-all affair, the MMA community showed concern for ‘No Love.’ Why?

Fans don’t see ‘No Love’ getting past Figueiredo

Social media was impressed to see how dominant Cody Garbrandt was in his UFC 296 fight against Brian Kelleher. However, Dana White‘s decision to put him in a fight against Deiveson Figueredo worried fans as they thought ‘No Love’ would lose to the Brazilian, crushing his momentum.

“Just when we thought we were gonna see Cody 2.0 He’s getting slept”

“Hope Cody wins but I got figgy”

“Why do this to Cody”

Nevertheless, there were many fans who wanted to see this fight and claimed that it was a better matchup than Zhang Weili facing Yan Xiaonan. Meanwhile, some other fans predicted that ‘No Love’ would get knocked out by Deiveson Figueiredo.

Some fans believe that the Garbrandt vs Figueiredo fight could take place in the prelims at UFC 300. On the other hand, one Instagram user mentioned how the former bantamweight champion often gets a win and then loses again.

“Nice fight to kick off the prelims. Cody getting KOd”

“Cody always gets that bounce back win and lost lol”

While many fans are worried about Cody Garbrandt, it is a great opportunity for him to showcase how good he is once again. It is important to note that Deiveson Figueiredo is no pushover since he showed how good he is against Rob Font, in his fist bantamweight fight. It remains to be seen who comes out on top as we wait for the April 13 event.
