The middleweight championship has changed hands three in over one year. This has opened up the possibility of many potential contenders getting into title contention. As such, 27-year-old Bo Nickal, who is highly rated by Dana White, recently opened up on his chance of moving up the division and becoming the middleweight champion in the future.

Bo Nickal has impressed a lot of fans and MMA experts with his fighting prowess. During his recent appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’, Ariel Helwani asked him about how he feels is his road to the title, to which the former NCAA champion had a few things to say. Let’s have a look at that front.

The highly touted prospect of Dana White is aiming to get Sean Strickland’s title

Dana White has been endorsing Bo Nickal as one of the game-changers in the UFC. the 27-year-old has won both of his UFC fighters with 1st-round finishes. However, Nickal has yet to find himself in the top 15 of the middleweight division. Despite that, he believes that his wrestling skills can prove to be the factor that he rises in the ranks in the not-so-distant future.

“I think that my wrestling ability is absolute huge X-Factor. Every single guy has to prepare for me so than they would for any other fighter,” said Bo Nickal. He also stated that he’s not done developing as a fighter. Nickal is learning more about fighting with each passing day. He mentioned that while most top fighters are on the tail end of their careers, the former NCAA champion is just getting started.

“I’m getting better and better every day. A lot of these guys are older, they’re very deep in their careers whereas I am just starting, still improving and getting better,” Nickal further stated. After explaining why his future in the middleweight division looks bright, Dana White’s prospect claimed that there aren’t many obstacles for him on the way to toppling Sean Strickland and becoming a champion.

“There’s an absolutely clear path for me to the belt and that’s something… that is on my mind every day,” Nickal added. If being the champion isn’t enough, the young middleweight star also has another accolade that he wants to collect. Let’s see what that’s all about.

Nickal’s P4P dream, along with the middleweight strap

Bo Nickal claimed that becoming a UFC champion is the biggest drive he has as an MMA fighter. Besides being a champion, the 27-year-old is also aiming to beat every other fighter and claim the top spot in the pound-for-pound rankings. Nickal further stated, “It’s [the middleweight strap] a huge motivator for me. My goal is to be UFC champion, pound-for-pound number one fighter in the world.”

Apparently, Bo Nickal is not too stressed about his upcoming fight against Cody Brundage at UFC 300. Rather, his primary focus is and always has been to get to the top of the 185-pound division, win the belt, and defend it almost a dozen times. “I’m not really planning right now for beating Cody Brundage. Of course, that’s part of the training, but my main plan is to get that belt, defend my belt 10 times,” Nickal added.

Bo Nickal has fared exceptionally well in his UFC career so far. Hence, that is the reason why he’s full of confidence. However, Nickal may not want to dismiss Cody Brundage ahead of their UFC 300. The latter is also high on momentum with a two-fight winning streak. We will have to wait and see how things pan out for Nickal at UFC 300 and how far he comes close to fighting for the middleweight strap.
