Dricus du Plessis claims UFC should come to Africa now

During the post-fight press conference, media personnel notified Dricus du Plessis that Dana White had given a positive answer about the UFC going to Africa for an event. When asked how he thinks about such a move, he stated that it should have happened by now. Claiming that he’ll be the champion for a long time, du Plessis mentioned how hard he had to work to get to the position he’s in now. That, he believes, warrants a UFC event in Africa.

“It gonna be now for a long time now. But yeah, I think it’s time,” said Dricus du Plessis. “We’ve worked our a**es off to get this event to Africa and South Africa and it’s time that happens.” The South African star also opened up on why he is considering a fight against Israel Adesanya, even after calling him irrelevant a few days ago.

‘Stillknocks’ believes that fans want to see him fight Adesanya

Dricus du Plessis doesn’t think he needs to fight Israel Adesanya to prove anything. He’s already the champion. However, he believes that the fans want to see both of them go head-to-head against each other inside the Octagon. But if the UFC doesn’t want that fight to take place, he won’t have any problems with that either.

“There’s a lot of guys whom I’m gonna be fighting. But the fans want to see Israel Adesanya vs Dricus du Plessis,” said the new middleweight champion. “If some way they [the UFC] start tracking and saying, ‘Listen, the fans really don’t want to see Adesanya vs du Plessis. We don’t do that fight’, it’s fine to me.”
