The UFC presents its fans with multiple paradoxes. From unexpected fight results to the beef between fighters, the fight world provides fans with interesting events from time to time. It also may be agreed that some beef may often go over the limit which may risk tarnishing the promotion’s image. About a month back, the noted former UFC Welterweight, Jake Shields, got involved in a similar bitter feud with the known UFC fighter, Mike Jackson. The two started off with online altercations, but things got real when Shields crossed paths with Jackson at the UFC Performance Institute.

The infamous scuffle made headlines quickly and also garnered a lot of public attention. UFC boss, Dana White, also took notice of this incident and recently gave his verdict on the incident. He decided to fire Jackson from the UFC roster following this scuffle. It might be agreed that the sensitivity of the issue about which Nate Diaz‘s teammate’, Shields and Mike Jackson were feuding led to this drastic decision from White and the UFC.

How did the Jake Shields vs Mike Jackson altercation start?

The news of Jackson’s exit from UFC was shared by the noted MMA covering  Instagram page, ‘MMA Island’. They wrote, “It looks like the UFC has parted ways with Mike Jackson, following his altercation with Jake Shields last month.”

Jackson was offended was one of Shields’ tweets and decided to diss him in one of his own tweets, labeling him a “na*i” and a “white nationalist”. Shields too, didn’t take Jackson’s frivolous online attack kindly. Things turned violent when the two had an unplanned meet-up at the UFC Performance Institute.

Following this infamous incident, Jackson was interviewed by the noted MMA coverage house, ‘MMAFighting’. Even after being beaten up by Shields, Jackson continued his verbal assault. He stated, “I didn’t really think he was going to jeopardize his role at the PI, but I guess he didn’t give a f*** about that. The fragility in him, the white nationalist in him, was like, ‘Nah.’ That’s on him.”

Mike Jackson showed no signs of stopping his insults for Jake Shields

After his Twitter remarks about Shields, Jackson calling him a “white nationalist” in a media interview probably didn’t sit well with the UFC. Fans have often seen fighters giving out brash comments in front of the media on various issues. But this issue might have been too sensitive for the UFC to tolerate.

‘The Stockon Army member’ also stated that he did business with Jews and Jackson labeling him a ‘na*i’ could subject him to huge losses. Even after his ‘MMAFighting’ interview, Jackson once more took to Twitter and insulted Shields with another tweet.

Dana White’s UFC had probably sensed that Jackson wasn’t going to stop his hugely controversial disses at Shields. A lot of fans might agree that Jackson could’ve offended a lot of others in the MMA community and UFC as well.

Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
