Can Dana White set up a Khamzat Chimaev vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov bout?

Shavkat Rakhmonov is a fighter in the welterweight division, who is just clearing his opponents with ease by early finishes. Sounds familiar? It does to most MMA fans as they compare the ‘Nomad’ with the Russian-born Swedish UFC sensation, i.e. Khamzat Chimaev.

Ever since he stepped foot in the UFC, Rakhmonov has been treading on similar lines as ‘Borz’. Hence, many fight fans want both ace athletes to compete against each other. However, it doesn’t seem possible at the moment as Rakhmonov isn’t ranked.

Khamzat Chimaev, on the other hand, is aiming at the top for the welterweight strap, which rests on the shoulders of Kamaru Usman. At the moment, ‘Borz’ is engaged in a back-and-forth with welterweight #2 Gilbert Burns and may fight him at UFC 273.

Hence, it’s safe to say that UFC President Dana White won’t be in a hurry to book Shavkat Rakhmonov against ‘Borz’ Khamzat Chimaev, unless ‘Nomad’ raises his stock in the UFC quickly.
