The recently crowned UFC Bantamweight Champion made his way to the top of the division by defeating Aljamain Sterling in the main event of UFC 292. The victory by way of TKO solidified his seat on the Bantamweight throne. However, O’Malley is also well known for his humorous presence online. In his latest jab, O’Malley shared a video on social media ridiculing a fellow UFC fighter’s outdoor training session. But this isn’t the first interaction between O’Malley and the Bantamweight.

The history between Sean O’Malley and ‘The Funkmaster’s friend

Merab Dvalishvili is the #2 ranked UFC Bantamweight. Moreover, he is a friend of the former champion Aljamain Sterling as well. The two are related through the infamous jacket incident. During a face-off with ‘The Funkmaster’, ‘Sugar’ was sporting a red Michael Jackson-looking jacket. The jacket was mistakenly handed over to Dvalishvili. “The Machine” parading around the Octagon with the unintended gift can be seen marching around the Octagon in many clips that are now viral.

Reporters also, in previous instances, asked if ‘Sugar’ would want to fight Dvalishvili. After O’Malley’s victory, ‘The Machine’ also came out with allegations of an early stoppage, criticizing the referee of that match, Marc Goddard. However, in this new happening, it is ‘Sugar’ who steers the conversation. Sharing a video of Merab online, O’Malley’s comments left some fans laughing hysterically, while others began to speculate.

Fans react as ‘Sugar’s comment goes viral

‘The Machine’ shared a video of him training in the rain. The video was shot at the UFC’s Performance Institute. Just like any other training video, the clip showcased Dvalishvili’s resilience training in rainy weather. However, O’Malley recorded the incident from another angle and shared the video online. In this clip, O’Malley can be heard saying, “What the f**k is this guy doing bro?” The clip shows O’Malley ridiculing Dvalishvili for training in the rain and recording a video to possibly put on the internet.

They said: “Looked cool from Merabs video but goofy as s**t from Sean’s pov”; “Dana won’t let him in”; “Sean’s funny asf man I’m sorry”. Some fans, however, used the opportunity to draw a comparison. One said, “O’malley’s being very careful to taunt him but not make any call outs. Merab would make easy work of that fight”. Expressing faith in Dvalishvili’s abilities, one fan wrote, “Bro Merab wipes the floor with you. If you think it’s so funny you should fight him.”

Possibly wanting to see the two Bantamweights square off, one fan wrote, “If you’re gonna clown on him, at least back it up in the octagon.” Meanwhile, one witty user brought back the jacket incident, “Should of brought the jacket”.
