It is a known fact that Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov share a great friendship. After all, they have been teammates at AKA. Further, Nurmagomedov’s bitter rivalry with Conor McGregor was one of the most talked about aspects of his UFC career.

In a conversation on ‘The Pivot Podcast’, Cormier spoke about McGregor and had an interesting take on ‘The Notorious’. The UFC Hall of Famer said, “Conor’s good. But…he’s not, now he’s not the guy that he was a couple of years ago, right? He’s been struggling.”

The 34-year-old Irish fighter has been UFC’s first double champion. However, post this impressive achievement, he lost to Nurmagomedov and later twice against Dustin Poirier.

Speaking about McGregor’s boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, Cormier said, “Was him stepping out, yeah it was massive. If you stand alongside Floyd Mayweather, do you remember those press conferences? It was an absolute circus the entire time. And more people paid attention to what Conor does outside of his time there with Floyd.”

“So when you see Dana up there, all right, Dana was smart, right? Dana was like, ‘I’m going to be at every one’ because when you see Conor, you see the UFC.”

“And then, dude made a $100 million, I think. … And I’m pretty sure, the UFC got some of that money too.”

Further, Cormier highlighted the difference between success in the Octagon and fame. As per him, both are extremely different.

While there aren’t many fighters who have earned both fame and success, ‘Mystic Mac‘ seems to have achieved it all. He has been fighting professionally since 2008. In 2013, he made his UFC debut and went undefeated in the famous promotion until he faced Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

McGregor lost to Diaz via submission. However, it wasn’t just the Irish athlete’s fights that got attention. His trash-talking and flamboyant personality too received loads of watchfulness from fans.
