Daniel Cormier Explains Why the UFC Commentary Team Including Joe Rogan Obsess About “Judging” Amidst Holly Holm Controversy

UFC Vegas 55 marked one of the most controversial decisions ever made by the UFC. Despite the majority of the public thinking, Holly Holm was clearly more dominant in the bout, the judges gave the fight to Ketlen Vieira. A lot of major figures in the UFC have spoken about the controversial decision in Viera’s favor. One of these is the UFC commentator and UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier.

‘DC’ took to his Twitter to share his opinion about the decision with his followers and slammed the judges for their decision.

“The (Holly) Holm fight last night was wrong. This is no knock on Ketlen Vieira. So when I state these opinions it’s not an attack on anyone in particular. This is just me saying what I feel and where I believe the blame resides. The blame resides in the judging. It really does,” said the color commentator.

He then went on to speak about his role in the UFC. He said, “There is a lot of times we are calling the fights and we get lost talking about the judging, what we think the scorecards would be, and how the fight is going to look at the end. And the reality is when we do that we are not doing our job… But because the judging has become such a main topic of conversation, now we are spending time discussing that because we’re so unsure about what it’s going to look like at the end of the fight.”

Cormier also posted the longer video on his YouTube channel and spoke about how the judging was ‘f*cked up a little bit.”

Ketlen Vieira on her controversial win against Holly Holm

Despite Holly Holm landing almost double of the total strikes and the significant strikes compared to Viera, the judges gave the fight in the Brazilian’s favor. After her controversial win, Ketlen Vieira spoke to the press and gave her take on the bout.

She said,” very happy obviously very thankful to god for this win. I knew this means that you know my team worked and my team and my camp worked to make this happen. So very happy and very grateful.”
