On the night of Feb 12, 2023, the world watched as two UFC champions fought in the main event of UFC 284. Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski was easily one of the best fights in recent years. The fight went to the judges as Islam Makhachev beat Alexander Volkanovski via unanimous decision.

The entire MMA community had several polarising opinions about this fight and its result. Famous UFC personalities like Joe Rogan were not happy with the result and voiced their disagreement online. Daniel Cormier, on the other hand, believed that Islam Makhachev won the fight after winning three rounds out of five.

Islam Makhachev Humanised For The First Time
But Daniel Cormier was appreciative of Alexander Volkanovski’s performance. “Alexander Volkanovski was the first person to make Islam Makhachev look human,” said the UFC legend. However, according to Daniel Cormier, Volkanovski “still didn’t win the fight”.
