Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo put on an impressive performance in his recent outing. In the co-main event of the last UFC card of 2020, the Brazilian managed to win a unanimous decision against Marlon Vera.
In the recent episode of DC & Helwani, Daniel Cormier lauded Aldo for his gameplan and showing in this fight against Vera. Aldo made a triumphant Octagon return after his failed bid to capture the bantamweight title against Petr Yan at UFC 251.
“He got beat by Petr Yan. But early in the fight, it was very competitive. So it’s not like he didn’t fight Petr Yan even early. He got tired and as he got tired, Yan kind of pulled away from him. So, you saw spots in that fight where Aldo looked like himself,” stated Cormier, talking about Aldo’s win.

DC then went on to praise Aldo for his bout last weekend. “But on Saturday night, those body shots he landed in the first round, the way that he moves his head, dips, and throws, fantastic.”
Aldo managed to get Vera’s back in the third round as the latter was getting too aggressive. He controlled Vera for most of the third round and even attempted a submission. Those efforts made sure the decisive round went in Aldo’s favor in the judge’s books.

“And then to go and get that takedown he needed in the third round when he needed it to put in that submission pint in the judge’s scorecard, beautiful,” concluded an ecstatic Daniel Cormier. It was no doubt a fantastic showing on Aldo’s part, as he proved he is still one of the top of the cream fighters.
Jose Aldo called out another former champion after his win
After his win, in the post-fight interview, Aldo called out former bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw. Dillashaw’s USADA suspension ends next month, and he is set to return in 2021.
