Max Holloway shocked the world when he defeated Justin Gaethje to clinch the ‘BMF’ title from him. The former featherweight champ was the underdog in the fight, but the dominance that Holloway showcased inside the Octagon surely deserved him the belt. Holloway is having the time of his life now and in his latest take on Joe Rogan Experience, ‘Blessed’ seems to have playfully challenged the former dual weight champion, Daniel Cormier.

While having a conversation on ‘JRE MMAShow #155’, Max Holloway stated that people underestimate him because of his age. He emphasized that he has been with the promotion for so long that people think that he is way older than his actual age. Amid the conversation, he said, “You know, I got in the UFC when I was 20, 20 years old, and a lot of people think I’m DC’s old ass, like 42 years old or something. You know what I mean? And then I’m like, ‘Brother, I’m not DC!’ I’ve been calling out DC, but I’m a young guy,” said Max Holloway.

‘Blessed’ later emphasized that he shares a good relationship with Daniel Cormier and they have been on good terms. Interestingly, Cormier seems to have taken notice of Holloway’s words on Rogan’s podcast. In his latest YouTube video, ‘DC’ responded to Holloway’s words, saying, “One he got knocked down against M Holloway, that is the truth, against Justin Gaethje, sorry, that is the truth. He said it on the night. He got hit so hard man. He goes, ‘Wow, I actually went down for the first time in my career.’ And two, he ain’t fighting me. It’d be the biggest mistake of your life, Holloway.”

He further added, “He ain’t fighting me. ‘I’m the daddest man on the planet’ and ‘I was the baddest man on the planet’. Look, Max is one of my best friends. He’s a great guy, love the guy to death. So happy for his success and I love that we’ve had this thing going for at least seven years, right? We’ve been doing this whole thing for seven years. So it’s been fun but, Holloway, I will meet you anywhere.” Cormier might have warned Holloway against fighting him, but the duo share a mutual respect and friendship. According to Cormier, Holloway’s knockout was the ultimate “Holy Sh*t” moment of the grand night.

While having a conversation on his ESPN show “Good Guy/Bad Guy” with Chael Sonnen, Cormier gave his honest reaction to Max Holloway’s performance. “You’ve got to disrupt his rhythm very early. Even if it’s just kicking at his legs like Volkanovski did in fight No. 1 to not allow for him to get going. I feel like, when watching Max Holloway, who’s one of my best buds, in there this weekend, this guy was floating. Max could’ve been knocked out. So, the risk vs. the reward. Ultimately, the reward paying off in the way that it did, that is the biggest holy sh*t moment I’ve ever seen in UFC history.” Cormier said.

Daniel Cormier’s reaction resonates with many as this is what the MMA community thought when they witnessed the masterclass. What’s your take on Cormier’s statement about Max Holloway? State your thoughts in the comment below.
