Fighter pay has always been a hot topic for discussion among the MMA community. Fans have always been eager to learn how much their favorite fighters earn. Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier, while appearing on the ‘pivot podcast’, revealed the potential payout for fighters like Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Israel Adesanya.

The group was talking about fighter pay when the host asked DC, “I don’t understand the mixed martial arts, the UFC, the pay structure of it. Are these dudes that, the names we know, are they really getting money?”

The former UFC double champ instantly chimed in and said, “Izzy. Seven million, I think Izzy is making. Between five to seven”

Former NFL safety and co-host of the ‘DC & RC’ show was also president. Upon hearing the amount, he was awestruck and just said “wow”.

The wrestler then continued further, “Khabib made probably ten. Conor makes 20 base, 15-20 base.” The host enquired, “this is just walking into the ring?”

To which DC answered, “yes you walk into and you get paid.” Moreover, Cormier also revealed the place where the amount is paid to the fighters.

“And guess when you get paid? In the locker room. You walk back and they give you a cheque. Three four million, five million. Whatever it is, they give it to you in the back.”

However, Cormier even clarified that everybody does not get paid in millions. He said, “it’s not everybody though. Not everybody.”

DC disclosed the UFC paid him extra money

Cormier also revealed during the DC and Helwani Podcast the happiest moment in his UFC career was when he received a cheque for $1 million from Dana White after fighting Jon Jones. 

Helwani asked DC, “Can you tell us when were you your happiest? What was the happiest moment of your fighting career? What was the pinnacle?”

Cormier went on to describe that winning the Strikeforce belt and beating Rumble Johnson to win his first UFC belt, both were very special moments for the champ; However, the happiest moment of DC’s career was when the UFC offered him a million dollars after he fought Jon Jones.

DC said, “after I lost to Jones, Lorenzo Fertitta gave me a million dollars. He and Dana gave me a million dollars. They actually called me and said ‘let me give you a million dollars DC’ for the job that you’ve done”

The double champ added that after he fought Rumble Johnson to become the champion, the UFC made sure that he was paid extra, so he makes a million dollars.
