After the dominant performance from Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Vegas 71, Cejudo had a few ideas for his upcoming bout at UFC 288. On May 6th in Newark, Cejudo will face current bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling for the title. However, ‘Triple C’ has now voiced some concerns about Sterling and offered solutions of his own to the UFC president. Interestingly, his new ideas have completely left #1 ranked Sean O’Malley on the sidelines.

Henry Cejudo snubs Sean O’Malley in proposition for UFC 288

In a video posted via his social media, Henry Cejudo asked Dana White to name Dvalishvili as the backup for the UFC 288 title fight. The former double champion expressed doubts that Sterling would show up to the fight and called for his teammate to be the backup.

He said, “Dear Dana White, I’m over here watching the No.2 and 3 contenders and I’ve got a feeling that Aljamain is more likely to back out of this fight. So that being said, why don’t you give me Merab?”

The 35-year-old continued, “Give me Merab since Sean O’Malley wants to wait.  He wants to take his time. Why don’t we make Merab the backup at UFC 288? Why don’t we do it that way?”

He further added, “That way it’s both of these training partners because I have a feeling Aljamain is going to eventually back out so I want to make sure.”

However, Sean O’Malley did not entertain Cejudo snubbing him and responded to the former Olympian on Twitter.

O’Malley responds to Cejudo

Henry Cejudo shared the same video on Twitter and it fetched a reaction from the #1 ranked UFC bantamweight. In a response to Cejudo’s tweet, O’Malley wrote, “I’ll be ready bud.”

The 28-year-old’s response prompted a reply from Cejudo who wrote, “Trust me you won’t be ready! Take your time get your nails done and your hair did. And watch me work.”

Both O’Malley and Cejudo have been going back and forth over the last few months. Now that Sterling vs Cejudo will fight at UFC 288, O’Malley could fight the winner later this year.
