UFC journalist Al Zullino had confirmed earlier that UFC is scheduling an event in Paris on September 3, 2022. However, recent updates confirm not only the event but also the headliner fight.

Former interim UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane last fought in January, when he lost the title bout against Francis Ngannou. Gane is a top-billing fighter for the UFC and it only makes sense for him to headline the debut event in his home country.

He will take on Australia’s Tai Tuivasa who is on a 5-fight winning streak. Notably, ‘Bam Bam’ has won all those fights via KO. His recent win came in February 2022 when he knocked out Derrick Lewis in the second round.

It is anticipated to be an epic battle between the #1 and #3 ranked UFC heavyweights Gane and Tuivasa, respectively. Both fighters have a background in Muay Thai, which makes the fight even more exciting.

Can Ciryl Gane become the UFC champion?

The 31-year-old fighter has been on the rise ever since his arrival to the UFC. He had a 7-0 streak in the promotion until he met Francis Ngannou. ‘The Predator’ ended his unbeaten run in an enthralling fight and became the UFC heavyweight champion.

After the fight, Gane asked for a rematch.

“If he leaves like that, I don’t want that. I want my rematch.” He added, “I want to do this fight a second time. I want this fight, I want this rematch.”

However, UFC didn’t see this as a viable option considering the variety of top fighters in the heavyweight division. Instead, he will be up against Tai Tuivasa at the first French UFC event to be held in Paris on September 3.
