UFC fans never let go of anything easy that they feel was unjust. That’s one strong trait they hold, and absolutely no one gets away with it. And it was Sean O’Malley this time who got caught under the bus for revisiting his controversial victory over Petr Yan and explaining how he won. Wherein the popular belief today stands at the notion that the Russian got snubbed in that matchup. But what’s done is done. However, the UFC community isn’t much of a ‘forgive and forget’ bunch.

Hence, this breakdown post from ‘Sugar’ invited some severe bashing and mockery of him. However, this isn’t something O’Malley didn’t expect, given that he feels he truly won, and in his statement on the decision, he did put out that the people are just hating on him because they wanted to see him ‘get whooped’.

Fans dismiss every word put out by Sean O’Malley

In his Instagram post, the Helena native offered a breakdown of a particular instance of his fight against Petr Yan at UFC 280 and explained how he managed to hold grounds against the Russian and eventually got the ‘job done’. However, fans aren’t having it.

Even though this display seemed impressive, the 28-year-old eventually drew some scathing criticism for it.

Many fans condemned the 28-year-old for bragging about his contentious triumph, which they believe was fraudulent:

“Lol, we know it wasn’t your fault that you’ve been gifted the win, but you know that you lost the fight”

“Bro you lost that fight 🙄”

“Favouritism from the ufc you got beatnand cant admit it delusional to think you won.”

“When petyr won the fight but you won the decision?”

“i ain’t gon lie gang peter rocked yo sh*t ion know how you won”

Wherein one fan stated it was Dana White‘s favor to him:

“Danna got the Job done 4 u even before the fight..!!”

Not a pretty sight for Petr Yan as this fan said:

“I always picture Yan watching these vids just fuming fuc*ing pissed off 😂 punching the air”

Paddy Pimblett too came under fire, as his recent victory was surrounded by the same controversy as O’Malley’s:

“Him n paddy are gettin really confident”

Nevertheless, this isn’t something the UFC fighter didn’t see coming. Post his victory, Sean O’Malley went on record saying that these people would’ve loved him if Petr Yan won.

O’Malley believes a loss would have brought more respect to his name

With everything done and said, the 28-year-old put out a statement, addressing the backlash he’s receiving. And upon doing so, he stated that the same people would’ve showered all the love on him if he lost instead.

‘Sugar’ stated, “If I would have lost that fight, people would have been put a lot more respect on my name. They’d be like, ‘Damn, you lost, but the motherf**ker’s good.’ Now, it’s like, ‘He won? He won? You’ve got to be sh*tting me!’” He further added, “But the people that are mad that I won are people that said I was supposed to get whooped.”
