However, this isn’t something O’Malley didn’t expect, given that he feels he truly won, and in his statement on the decision, he did put out that the people are just hating on him because they wanted to see him ‘get whooped’.

In his Instagram post, the Helena native offered a breakdown of a particular instance of his fight against Petr Yan at UFC 280 and explained how he managed to hold grounds against the Russian and eventually got the ‘job done’. However, fans aren’t having it.

Paddy Pimblett too came under fire, as his recent victory was surrounded by the same controversy as O’Malley’s:

“Him n paddy are gettin really confident”

Nevertheless, this isn’t something the UFC fighter didn’t see coming. Post his victory, Sean O’Malley went on record saying that these people would’ve loved him if Petr Yan won.

O’Malley believes a loss would have brought more respect to his name

With everything done and said, the 28-year-old put out a statement, addressing the backlash he’s receiving. And upon doing so, he stated that the same people would’ve showered all the love on him if he lost instead.

‘Sugar’ stated, “If I would have lost that fight, people would have been put a lot more respect on my name. They’d be like, ‘Damn, you lost, but the motherf**ker’s good.’ Now, it’s like, ‘He won? He won? You’ve got to be sh*tting me!’” He further added, “But the people that are mad that I won are people that said I was supposed to get whooped.”
