Conor McGregor recently dropped huge news on social media. The former double champion claimed to have entered the USADA’s testing pool ahead of his impending comeback. However, UFC legend Chael Sonnen isn’t too sure about that. He believes that ‘The Notorious’ may be attempting to troll people like he usually does.

‘The Notorious’ has been out of action for over two years now since suffering a brutal leg injury at UFC 264. Since then, almost thirty UFC pay-per-views have gone by, but there have been no signs of his much-awaited return. However, his recent claim about entering the USADA testing pool has created a sense of uncertainty in Chael Sonnen’s mind. Let’s see what he has to say.

Conor McGregor was initially scheduled to make his comeback in August after the culmination of ‘The Ultimate Fighter 31’. He was slated to take on Michael Chandler as his comeback opponent, who was also his opposition coach on the show. However, his exclusion from the USADA testing pool made it difficult for him to return.

Chael Sonnen recently posted a video on his YouTube channel and weighed in on Conor McGregor’s latest statement about submitting a sample for drug testing. However, he was skeptical about the claim since the Irishman did not mention USADA. Instead, he took the name of the liaison between USADA and the UFC, Jeff Novitzky. Sonnen said, “Conor did not say the United States Anti-Doping Agency [USADA]. He said he turned the paperwork in to Jeff Novitzky.”

Furthermore, Sonnen mentioned that Conor McGregor is known to troll fans and followers and has some fun with speculations. However, he never dropped a name whenever he attempted such stunts, but that was not the case this time around. “In a normal situation where Conor McGregor is known to troll us and like to have a lot of fun with us, he would not bring in a name like Jeff Novitzky.”, said ‘The American Gangster’.

However, if he really intended to get his trolling tactic across, Chael Sonnen claims that Conor McGregor may not hesitate to drop names. It is because Novitzky is known to keep quiet about certain issues. “But if he was desperate to get the troll over, he could invoke Jeff Novitzky because Jeff won’t say anything. Jeff can, but he is unlikely to say anything,” said the UFC legend. Meanwhile, he also stated that the trolling attempt may not last as long as McGregor wants it to.

UFC legend claims that USADA may respond to McGregor’s claims soon

Chael Sonnen believes that Conor McGregor’s attempt to troll people with his drug-testing claim may not last for a very long time. It is because he did not take the name of USADA. Sonnen further said, “If this was a work… the work and the hustle will only hold up until tomorrow morning.”

As such, he also pointed out that it may not take long before USADA notices what McGregor has said. They would immediately share a statement regarding the situation, which they have done in the past when ‘The Notorious’ claimed he was in the testing pool. “By then, USADA would put out a statement saying, ‘We have not received paperwork from Conor McGregor’, or, ‘We have received the paperwork,’ and they would need to,” said Chael Sonnen.
