Despite Assuring Fans of a ‘Banger’, Zhang Weili Not Confident on Securing a Win Against Valentina Shevchenko

Zhang ‘Magnum’ Weili has turned into a dominant fighter in the women’s strawweight division in the UFC. Weili never shies away from competition and always looks for more challenges for herself. She got the fans excited with her latest comments about a prospective super fight with Valentina ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko. Weili once again became the UFC champion after defeating Carla Esparza via submission at UFC 281. As a result of this, fans want to know whom she will face ahead.

‘Magnum’ recently appeared on ‘The MMA Hour’ where she shared her thoughts on a potential superfight with Valentina Shevchenko.

Zhang Weili predicts the fight with Shevchenko to be a huge

Zhang Weili is excited about the prospect of facing the UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion. However, she seemed doubtful of coming out victorious in their bout but promised a banger.

She was of the opinion that she and Shevchenko will eventually cross paths.

Additionally, the Chinese fighter said Shevchenko was the best in the world. However, she was willing to take the step ahead.

Should Weili face Namajunas or Shevchenko in her next bout?

The immediate challenge for Weili, however, could be a fight to defend her Strawweight title. Her next title defense could see her face Rose Namajunas or Amanda Lemos. After all, they are the highest-ranking contenders in the division.

Weili has two losses against former champion Rose Namajunas. The latter defeated Weili by head-kick KO in the first fight and the rematch, via a split decision.

Valentina Shevchenko and Weili have an identical record of 23-3 in MMA. Shevchenko’s last lost a fight against Amanda Nunes in 2017. Zhang Weili is currently on a two-match win streak by beating Carla Esparza and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
