Joe Rogan didn’t just pioneer the podcasting world—he helped shape its very foundation. Since its debut on December 24, 2009, The Joe Rogan Experience has grown into the gold standard of the medium. By 2020, Spotify took notice in a big way, securing an exclusive deal with Rogan reportedly worth over $200 million for a 3.5-year run. It wasn’t just a contract—it was a statement about the power and reach of podcasting. Then in 2024, Spotify doubled down, inking a jaw-dropping $250 million extension with Rogan for another three years. Rogan’s podcast journey began with a spark of inspiration back in 2007, after he appeared on Tom Green’s web show.

The experience left a lasting impression—Rogan realized just how much he enjoyed diving into deep, unfiltered conversations with compelling guests. Two years later, in 2009, he launched “The Joe Rogan Experience”. Like most success stories, it started off modestly—just a simple setup and a mic. But that humble beginning grew into something massive. Over the years, everyone from presidents to scientists to elite athletes has pulled up a chair in Rogan’s studio. And with his latest Spotify deal pushing the podcast’s value to a staggering $250 million, it’s safe to say that a small idea turned into a cultural phenomenon.

It now seems that the 57-year-old has clearly made a habit of claiming the top spots, and this time he has done the same again. Jed I. Goodman took to his X account to share the news with the fans. The UFC color commentator has beaten some top names once again to claim the top spot. “Top podcasts on Spotify this week. (US), this was the caption of the post. Under the terms of his new deal, Rogan now has the freedom to distribute his episodes across multiple platforms, including YouTube and Apple Podcasts. While some initially worried this broader reach might dilute his audience on Spotify, the move appears to have only amplified his influence.

Creating something as impactful as The Joe Rogan Experience takes more than just grit—it demands genuine passion. Now, nearly 16 years later, Rogan is enjoying the rewards of the empire he’s built from the ground up. But when asked what the best part of this incredible journey has been, it’s not the fortune, fame, or access to high-profile circles that he points to. For Rogan, the greatest gift of the podcast has been the conversations themselves—getting the chance to sit down with brilliant minds and learn from people who know more than he does.

Joe Rogan shares the biggest achievement in his career as a podcaster

During his episode on JRE segment #2315 with José Andrés, Rogan shared how conversations with various people have helped him grow. He said, There’s gonna be more people that know things that you don’t know. Celebrate that! Enjoy it. I think! You know, that’s one of the best things that happened to me through this podcast, that I get to talk to so many different people, that have lived so many different lives, and have so many different passions. And so many different interests, and so many different things that they have studied. It’s an amazing education. But I was a lot like you. I didn’t want to sit in school. Whatever ADHD is, I have it.”

Well said by the UFC’s longtime color commentator! With countless conversations under his belt, spanning every topic imaginable, it’s no surprise Joe Rogan has become one of the most informed voices in media today. The Joe Rogan Experience now reaches millions of listeners each month, and the audience just keeps growing. What’s truly impressive is how the show has managed to keep its authenticity and raw, unfiltered style despite its massive success. Known as a space where bold opinions often spark big reactions, the JRE continues to stir the pot—and this time is no different.
