Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev seem to be on a collision course from their latest social media shenanigans. Over the last couple of days, Usman and Chimaev have been calling each other out on social media consistently. It looks like both of them have each other’s attention and are serious about locking the cage door behind them.

UFC president Dana White is not entirely sold on the idea of Usman vs. Chimaev for one particular reason. However, their boss’s reluctance has not hindered either welterweight star as they continue to taunt each other.

Kamaru Usman’s last two fights were against current UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards. After suffering a devastating knockout loss and losing his title the first time, Usman failed to reclaim the title in the rematch earlier this year. Unlucky for him, this also ended their trilogy 2-1 in Edwards’s favor.

Now Usman needs a major win to convince the fans and the UFC brass to get a fourth shot at Edwards. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has decided that the Swedish hitman is the right name for the feat.

Kamaru Usman only has Khamzat Chimaev in his sights

Despite sitting at the #1 spot in the rankings, Kamaru Usman does not have a case for a title shot. But the former champion is not willing to let that deter him. Amidst the title shot chaos at welterweight, Usman has zeroed in on the #4 ranked undefeated Chimaev as his ticket to another title shot.

In a recent tweet, Usman posted a picture of himself in workout gear, and tagged Chimaev.

These callouts via name-tagging between Usman and Chimaev have been going on for a while. After one of the initial callouts, Chimaev had taken to Twitter to send a message to Usman. The 29-year-old wrote, @USMAN84kg I respect you, you were one of the best, you know you’re old bro, and you know it’s my time”

However, this admittedly fun matchup has not got the green light from Dana White for one simple reason. He said, “What I hate about that fight and (Usman) calling him out, Usman is calling him out at a catchweight. I don’t do catchweights, I don’t like catchweights. Catchweights mean nothing.”

Do you think Usman and Chimaev’s determination will win over White? And what weight class do you think the fight will take place at?
