This is partly due to the 55-year-old commentator-podcaster inviting people from various walks of life. Joe Rogan recently had Hollywood star Jon Bernthal as the guest on his podcast for episode #1916. Rogan talked about his way of holding interesting conversations with various guests. He stated that the key to having a great conversation depends on the type of person the guest is. Rogan said, “Depends entirely on the person. With a comedian, there’s no preparation. But maybe I’ll listen to their podcast.”

Joe Rogan also said that he finds it easier to communicate with fighters since he is a fan of combat sports. The famed UFC commentator-podcaster also holds a background in mixed-martial arts which makes it easier to talk with fighters. But Rogan is always sure to do his research before engaging with his guests. “Generally, when I have someone on, I am very, very aware of their resume and what they’ve done.”

Joe Rogan had to put in the work with a very few guests

John Bernthal asked Joe Rogan if he ever had a boring conversation with a guest since he started his podcast. Rogan replied that he had very ‘few slogs’ in his podcast. He always hopes that he had done enough research before engaging in conversations. Rogan said, “Hopefully, I know enough about the person’s ability to communicate that it’s not going to be a slog and there are very few slogs.”

But Joe Rogan recalled a few experiences when he totally lost interest and found it hard to follow what the guest was talking about. He said, “But I’ve had a few where I took a chance on authors and have them come in. Unfortunately, they talk the same way they write, where, you know, people write, they’re very deliberate and slow, and sometimes people talk deliberate and slow. That’s brutal.”
