Speaking to ‘MMA Junkie’, Fernand Lopez stated that they had little to no wrestling for Gane in his camp for the Sivak fight. He felt they had already worked on the Frenchman’s wrestling before.

He also explained why he thinks criticism of ‘Bon Gamin’s wrestling abilities (or lack thereof) is unwarranted. He said that Gane has just not had a good wrestling performance so far, but that does not take away from his ability to wrestle well.
“Like if you take two good wrestler, guy coming from a freestyle wrestling and they meet in the gold medal in Olympics and then one of comes, shoot the take down, good timing, put him on the back, win in 30 second, will you say that the other guys sucks in wrestling. No, it’s just about timing about momentum, about the day and so far we didn’t have a good day on the wrestling Department,” Lopez told the interviewer.

Gane may have had a disappointing performance against Jones in the fight. But, it is important he and his team figure out what went wrong and rectify it pretty soon. Because in a sparse heavyweight division after Francis Ngannou‘s departure, it might not be long before Gane gets another shot at the heavyweight crown.
