Ever since Israel Adesanya won back the Middleweight title from Alex Pereira, the whole division seems to be after the title. Fighters like Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier have openly admitted that they have their eyes set on the Middleweight title. However, the Stylebender doesn’t seem to be paying much heed to it.
As of now, there are two matches that are set to take place that can affect the championship title match. Robert Whittaker is set to fight Dricus du Plessis and speculations suggest that the winner of the match will be facing Israel Adesanya for the title. Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier are not far behind with both fighters shooting for the title right after their face-off.

In a recent interview with ESPN MMA, Cannonier was asked what his plans are after the fight, to which he replied, “Well, you know I’m gonna be calling for that title. Um… I want my performance to do the talking, in that regard. I want my performance to say that this man is ready for the title. Um… and… that’s what I’m… that’s what all I’m moving towards, you know.”.
Speaking of the possibility of being picked for a match other than the title shot even after securing the win over Marvin Vettori, Cannonier assuredly said, “Anything else they send to me um… it’ll have to be the right fight, you know? My management, my coaches, and myself are going to have to all agree on that – the trifecta if you will. And… we’ll see what happens.“.
The Middleweight fighter seems to be focusing on the task at hand – Marvin Vettori. The fun fact is that even Jared Cannonier has faced Israel Adesanya previously but failed to secure a win, much like his current opponent.
