From one MMA legend to another, Conor McGregor is all praises for Max Holloway’s heart-touching story. Recently, the fighter uploaded a story on Instagram with a video from Holloway’s childhood. Back in the day, the fighter had to suffer through a lot to get where he is today. From abuse to separation, ‘Blessed’ has been anything but blessed when it comes to his past.

Yet, the fighter carried on forward. The video showed a brief moment of Holloway speaking about his family and how he ended up being apart from his father. It was taken when the fighter was merely sixteen years of age. The clip has since gone viral and ‘The Notorious’ couldn’t keep away.

Conor McGregor is known for being one of the most trash-talking fighters in the history of the UFC. However, this time around, he had nothing but high praise. In the story he uploaded, he called Holloway a “Real fight legend,” and he couldn’t be more right about it. The Hawaii-born had an early induction into the world of battle sports. Here’s what 16-year-old Holloway said in the video.

“You shouldn’t even give up,” the young Holloway said. “If you give up, you certified loser. If you try you at least winning in your book. My mom and my dad I knew they were heavy drug users and then my dad would always beat up my mom. I think so that her drugs is like her medicine like what would calm her stress. The last time I saw my dad was when I was 10-11 years old and then I don’t see him after that. I say pray for him but like he has no use in my life anymore.”

It’s true, living in Hawaii wasn’t easy for the fighter. ‘Blessed’ picked up the art of combat fast and started kickboxing at the age of 15. He then went on to claim his first kickboxing victory with just three days of training. In 2012, Holloway made a breakthrough into the UFC as a replacement and his career soon skyrocketed to where it is today.

In an old video from Holloway’s Calvin Kattar fight, he can be heard telling the broadcasting team that he’s the best boxer in the UFC. The video itself is from 2021. It also happened to catch McGregor’s eyes and he shared it on his stories captioning it “I gonna box you around the cage Max for this comment alone.” The fighter seems like he loves to balance trash-talk with random bursts of appreciation for particular fighters. Either way, will Max Holloway ever go up against ‘The Notorious’ now?

Max Holloway’s last fight

The last time Max Holloway was in the cage was when he fought everyone’s favorite, ‘The Korean Zombie’. It would soon be revealed that this was TKZ’s retirement fight. Holloway won and showed a lot of respect for the fighter in the post-fight interview. Tragically, an audience member stole TKZ’s retirement gloves and so, ‘Blessed’ gifted him his own.

Everyone on the internet was moved by the wholesome act. TKZ himself decided to donate thousands of dollars to Maui victims with an organization Holloway was attached to. It meant an incredible lot to both the fighters. Now, Holloway will get back on his way to eventually fight his next opponent, whoever that may be. Will he reign supreme inside the ring like he has outside it? Only time will tell.
