“Let’s have a go at a slow dance while we’re at it,” quipped Limp Bizkit’s frontman, Fred Durst, after Conor McGregor revealed he’d be attending their concert to experience the nu-metal legends up close. Sharing the news on Instagram, the former UFC dual-weight champion promised to be right in the middle of the mosh pit, urging fans to join the chaos. However, his endeavor at the concert might not have gone as he was expected.
In the comment section of the post he shared about being in the center of the mosh pit, people warned him that it could get rough—especially considering all the controversies he has been involved in over the past few years. Despite the warning, McGregor attended the concert.
Well, we do not know whether Conor McGregor originally intended to attend the concert, but if he did, he faced utter humiliation from his own countrymen. When Limp Bizkit’s lead singer, Fred Durst, mentioned McGregor’s name during the concert, saying, “It sounds like you’re in love with Conor McGregor here,” the entire arena erupted in boos at the mere mention of his name.

Whether it’s due to the long break from the world of combat sports or his mounting legal troubles, it would not be wrong to state that ‘Mystic Mac’ has had an epic fall from grace. His story serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of humility despite amassing generational wealth. And the cold response from his countrymen might just be one of the reasons he wants to leave Ireland for the US—the people of Ireland aren’t backing their homegrown hero anymore.

After the Nikita Hand civil trial fallout, many brands, including major retail stores on the island, suspended their deals with the former UFC champion. With growing public resentment toward the Irishman, he might just about leave Ireland temporarily. “He wants out of Ireland for the moment and to move back to the States,” a source close to ‘Mystic Mac’ said.
And the disdain towards McGregor could be seen through the comments section of the Reddit post that shared the clip of Fred Durst name-dropping the Irishman. Let’s see how fans reacted.

Fans react as Conor McGregor gets booed at Limp Bizkit concert
It wasn’t just once that McGregor was booed upon his name being mentioned, and one user who attended the event said the following, “Fred mentioned him again a song or two later and he was booed again. One of the night’s highlights, for me.” Another fan who was in attendance doubled down on the angry response Conor McGregor received, “The boos were very loud in the arena. I can’t imagine his ego would have enjoyed being mocked, booed, and laughed at Fred knew what he was doing.”
What’s your perspective on:
Has Conor McGregor lost the support of his homeland for good, or can he win them back?
Have an interesting take?
And according to one fan, this isn’t the first time ‘The Notorious’ was booed at a live concert, “This happened at Wu Tang Clan a few years ago too. RZA quickly changed topic after the hostile response to McGregor’s name being mentioned”
Another lesser-known fact about RZA and Conor McGregor is that the Wu-Tang Clan member supported Floyd Mayweather during his bout against ‘Mystic Mac.’ RZA warned the Boxer about McGregor’s martial arts skills, “For our generation Floyd Mayweather is the greatest. I want Floyd to win, I’m rooting for him, but I don’t like the fact that he put his legacy on the line for a MMA fighter,” said RZA.

Moreover, a Reddit user highlighted that Conor McGregor wanted the crowd in attendance to have their after-party at his Dublin restaurant, “He advertised it on Instagram only so they might show up at the black forge.” One user wasn’t satisfied with the fact that the Irishman just received boos from the crown, “I thought he’d get more abuse.”
Yup, the writing on the wall doesn’t look good for ‘Mystic Mac’. Gone are the days when people would defend this man despite early warning signs of his problematic behavior. We’re not sure what he needs to do to gain favor in the court of public opinion. Perhaps a return to the UFC could offset all the hate he’s been getting? What do you think?
