Despite Recent Dominant Win Valentina Shevchenko Dismisses “Little Puppy” Erin Blanchfield’s Title Ambitions
The entire UFC community admired Erin Blanchfield, for her glorious victory against the former world champion, Jessica Andrade. Blanchfield, who was just 23 years old, was able to submit the 31-year-old Andrade, who is already an established fighter. Within the first two rounds, the ‘cold-blooded’ was able to force Andrade to submit by her rear naked choke. The surprising victory of Blanchfield was highly appreciated by the fans, even though the fights at UFC Fight Night 219 were lackluster.
At the moment, Blanchfield has cemented her position in the UFC, as she is now ranked #3. This directly points out the cold-blooded’s high chance for a title bout in the near future. However, the current UFC women’s flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko, does not think Blanchfield deserves a title bout in the near future.

In an interview with The MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani, ‘Bullet’ said, “Erin, she’s talking too much right now, using the opportunity to bring her name up and yeah, she’s young.” She added, “She’s kind of like 23 years old. This is what she has to do but I think, for the title fight, she is still green… For me, she looks like a little, happy puppy.” According to the Bullet, Blanchfield is just using her victory to make herself popular. She also indicated that the ‘cold-blooded’ has to work a lot more to reach a title shot.

Shevchenko also added that one of the reasons behind Blanchfield’s victory was her opponent’s lack of training. Without a second thought, the flyweight champion said how she strongly feels Andrade was relaxing in Brazil without taking proper training for a fight.

Furthermore, she also added that the reason for Andrade giving a green signal for the fight would just be money. Shevchenko mentioned that it was the worst fight on the side of ‘Bate Estaca’.
Jessica Andrade’s lack of preparation led her to the failure
It is true that Andrade didn’t get much time to practice, as she was informed about the fight just a week earlier. Initially, Blanchfield and Taila Santos were booked for the fight. However, due to visa issues, Santos had to give up on the fight. Followed by this, the UFC approached Andrade for the fight and she agreed to the same. Nonetheless, when it comes to a match, what matters is who won the fight, and here, Blanchfield was able to beat the former world champion.
