What happened to Conor McGregor after Aunt’s funeral?

Ever since he first came to the UFC, Conor McGregor has been box office. The fighter has it all – impressive skill set, big title wins, and he’s great at smack-talking. Naturally, when McGregor made his UFC debut back in 2013. He was a scrawny young talent then, hungry for wins. And the wins came.

McGregor’s 10 years in the UFC were truly a phenomenal time for the fight fans. Some of the biggest names in MMA were pitted against him. Some fights he won while others he lost. However, McGregor had what most other fighters didn’t – the complete package. The moment he started competing professionally, it was clear to everyone that Conor McGregor is not just a Martial Artist or a UFC fighter. He was a UFC star. Widely considered by many to be one of the most popular MMA fighters to date, McGregor’s UFC record stands at 22-6-0.

No matter how successful Conor McGregor might have become in recent years, there is one thing that he cannot avoid. Be it within the rind, beside it, or in the outside world – Conor McGregor just cannot seem to stop finding himself in the eye of the cyclone that is controversies.

Ahead of their fight, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor’s brawl turned really nasty and spiraled out of control. It all started with the undefeated Lightweight assaulting McGregor’s friend Dillon Danis in a parking lot. An enraged McGregor then hurled a chair, shattering Nurmagomedov’s team bus window. The fighter was penalized for this. McGregor recently attended the NBA finals where he punched the Miami Heat mascot hard enough to have him hospitalized.

Now, McGregor finds himself in yet another predicament similar to the above. McGregor was attending his aunt, Pamela McGregor’s funeral in the UK. Alleged videos surfaced that indicated McGregor was near a brawl that took place at the bar. The fight broke out in a bar named ‘The Saddle Club’ in Merseyside.

There are no official reports as to how this fight started between the two men. There are no official reports of the incident and therefore the reason behind the brawl breaking out is still unknown.

Conor McGregor’s ‘Notorious’ Life – From ‘Bullied’ to ‘Bullying’

Conor McGregor’s career trajectory boasts of some really big accomplishments. Currently, the fighter is worth a whopping $180 million. He is easily one of the highest-paid fighters in the UFC. He has forayed into business and is currently the owner of his own Irish Whiskey brand called Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey. However, life was not always this easy for the Irishman.

At a young age, Conor McGregor used to play football for Lourdes Celtic Football Club. He also started training in boxing when he was just 12 years of age. He started boxing at the Crumlin Boxing Club. Apparently, McGregor was really bullied as a child. He turned to boxing as a way to defend himself against his bullies and to gain some self-confidence. In 2006, McGregor and his family moved to Dublin where he went to Gaelcholáiste Coláiste Cois Life for schooling.

After schooling, he started a plumbing apprenticeship where he met future UFC fighter Tom Egan. The two started training in MMA and that is where McGregor’s interest in MMA developed. In 2007, at the early age of 18, McGregor won his first fight under the Irish Ring of Truth promotion. He was later signed on to the promotion.

In 2008, McGregor fought his first professional MMA bout and won it. He competed professionally till 2013 before UFC President Dana White met him and signed him on, only a few days later. On 6 April, McGregor fought Marcus Brimage at UFC on Fuel TV: Mousasi vs. Latifi marking his UFC debut, and won the match by knockout within the first round.

McGregor’s fight against Jose Aldo back in 2015 was one of the first proper UFC rivalries that McGregor had. The fight took place on 12 December and was for the Undisputed Featherweight Championship title. Jose Aldo was knocked out within 13 seconds into the fight and the Irishman had the first big UFC win to his name.

Then, McGregor’s rivalry with Nate Diaz started and it was as gritty as ever. Diaz and McGregor fought in 2016 for the Welterweight title. McGregor submitted to Diaz and suffered his first loss in the promotion.

The next big loss, perhaps one of the biggest losses that McGregor suffered in the UFC, came at the hands of the undefeated Dagestani Khabib Nurmagomedov. Easily counted as one of the greatest and most exciting rivalries within the UFC, the fight was one for the history books. A huge brawl broke out after Nurmagomedov submitted the Irishman with a rear naked choke.

People say that after suffering this loss to Nurmagomedov, McGregor was never the same. His last few fights at the UFC were hard to watch. The last blemish on his UFC record came when UFC Lightweight Dustin Poirier defeated him at UFC 264, marking his second defeat to Poirier. This time, McGregor walked away without a win, but also with a broken leg.

Of recent, McGregor has been spending time away with the family. However, he still finds himself surrounded by controversies. McGregor was scheduled to return to the UFC this year and face his TUF rival Michael Chandler. However, he missed the USADA pool this year and failed to return, despite multiple intimations.
