“Edson Barboza Is Why Wrestlers Are Afraid” – Fans React as “Vintage” Barboza Shuts Billy Quarantillo’s Lights Out at UFC Kansas City

UFC Kansas City saw fan-favorite Edson Barboza back in action. The featherweight bout in the co-main event saw the exciting Brazilian take on Billy Quarantillo. Edson Barboza came into the fight on the back of two defeats in professional MMA. Barboza last tasted a win in 2021 with a win against Shane Burgos.

On the contrary, Quarantillo came into the bout following a TKO win over Alexander Hernandez. Both fighters came into the fight with clear targets in mind with securing victory being the priority. However, ‘Junior’ got the better of Quarantillo in round one itself as the veteran got back in the win column. Furthermore, the 37-year-old promised more such fights in the future as he is in “best shape of his life”.

Fans react to a highlight reel knockout for Edson Barboza

The UFC fans got treated with yet another highlight reel by the Brazilian. This came in a much-needed time as Barboza brought his two-fight losing streak to an end. ‘Junior’ showed once again why he has the most knockdowns in UFC history.

The fans and the pros thoroughly enjoyed the “vintage” knockout by the Brazilian as he adds to his tally of such displays. The fight was toe-to-toe until ‘Junior’ threw a vicious knee, with fans remembering his KO of Beneil Dariush.

What happened during the co-main event at UFC Kansas City?

Round one started with Quarantillo trying to take Barboza down. However, the Brazilian got out of the scramble. Both fighters then tried to throw in some good strikes in the round. Following this, Quarantillo again tried to take Barboza down but to no avail. Both fighters landed some good strikes.

Barboza then landed a vicious KO on Quarantillo, after which the American fighter was knocked out clean. The Brazilian also added that he has been practicing the same moves for 8 weeks. Moreover, the Brazilian wished to fight top-ranked fighters in the featherweight division. Following the win, ‘Junior’ also promised exciting fights in the coming bouts with many such knockouts, much to the excitement of his fans in Kansas City.
