Jason David Frank is one of the most famed names in the acting world. He was also a trained mixed martial artist and had once competed in professional bouts. Both the acting and fighting worlds were doused in deep mourning on November 19, 2022, at the news of his demise. The super-popular ‘Green Ranger’ of the noted TV series ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ was loved by many throughout the world.

Many knew Frank by his screen name, ‘Tommy Oliver’, given to him for the ‘Power Rangers’ series. Frank had also appeared in a number of movies, out of which, ‘The Junior Defenders’ may be considered the most noted one.

How good was Jason David Frank – the martial artist?

Frank was also trained in a variety of martial arts, including Taekwondo, Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai. His role in the Power Rangers series was only planned for 14 episodes. However, the producers were compelled to bring him back as the ‘White Ranger’, all because of his popularity.

Frank had also competed in the Cage Amateur Association’s MMA promotion, “Cage Rage 7” at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, representing his team, the Texas Rage.

The ‘Green Ranger’ also scored a victory over his opponent, Willis, with a rising knee in the first round’s initial 23 seconds.

Frank had also fought Carlos Horn under the promotion of ‘Ultimate Warrior Challenge’. The ‘Green Ranger’ managed to defeat Horn in the first round itself via an armbar. He made his professional MMA debut under, ‘Puro Combate #1’. Using a rear naked choke submission, Frank won his professional MMA debut at 0:46 into the first round.

Fans of Frank flooded the internet with condolences

The news of his demise was covered by multiple news agencies. An MMA-covering Instagram page named, ‘MMA Island’ also covered this news, with a caption that read, “Power Rangers star Jason David Frank has died at 49. According to TMZ, Frank took his own life.”

Although this channel stated that Frank took his own life but Frank’s manager, Justine Hunt refrained from iterating the cause of his death on Sunday. Numerous fans expressed their heartbroken emotions in the comments section of the post.

One user wrote, “First Rumble, now this”. This user was obviously aware of Anthony ‘The Rumble’ Johnson’s demise on the 13th of this month. November, 2022 was turning out to be really heartbreaking for MMA fans. Another fan stated, “Wow. Didn’t expect it to be suicide. He was a really positive guy. Insane.”

One fan nostalgically wrote, “Bro my mom brought over a box of things from when i was kid LAST NIGHT and i found only a single pog in the box… and it was the fuckin white ranger. I am legit a little weirded out. RIP to a goat”. A majority of 90s kids will always remember the entertainment provided to them by the ‘Green Ranger’.

One more fan deeply stated, “Man. Permanent solutions shouldn’t ever be in the equation for solving temporary problems”. Another probable 90s kid also went nostalgic, stating, “Fu**kkkkkkkk this dude was my hero when i was a kid, i had one of his karate demo tapes and i used to copy it move for move”. A third one intended to pay a tribute to him writing, “Damn. RIP Tommy. Time to get Power Coin tattoo in my hand.”

One of the fans of his MMA also wrote, “One of the first times watching mma was searching this man’s fights”.
