Diego Sanchez was one fighter who recently had a ‘mentor’ with whom he later had a fallout for controversial reasons.

‘Nightmare’ won the initial TUF season and had a decent run in the UFC, beating many top names. However, he often fell short when put against the absolute top of the division. Yet, he delivered some of the best UFC fights. The versatile fighter competed in four weight divisions in the UFC, from 185 to 145 lbs.

Even though the fighter was always in the news because of his exciting fight style and unique character, his collaboration with coach Joshua Fabia received a lot of criticism from MMA fans.
Sanchez opened up about his coach/mentor’s effect and revealed him as the reason for his bout cancellation against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone on May 8, 2021.

The longtime Jackson Wink MMA fighter said, “The reason why it ended the way it did with UFC… That’s Joshua Fabia and f***ing with the medicals and just pushing all the wrong buttons at the UFC.”
He added, “what was best for him was to try to figure out a way to get a settlement with the UFC… He was masterminding everything.”

‘Nightmare’ revealed the reason he had so much trust in his former coach; “I made the mistake of following a mentor that I thought had a stronger connection to God than me.”
Anyhow, Sanchez parted ways with Fabia and has found new ventures outside the UFC, earlier in Eagle FC and now in a boxing bout.
Ex UFC fighter Diego Sanchez will have a boxing exhibition contest
According to reports, ‘Nightmare’ is heading inside the ring to perform for the fans. The longtime mixed martial artist will showcase his hands in a boxing exhibition bout on July 02 in the UK (Manchester).

Sanchez, who had multiple slugfests in the UFC, saw his fights go to the UFC Hall of Fame, will step inside the ring after losing his March 11 bout to Kevin Lee at Eagle FC 46.
