Dillon Danis‘s MMA career has become almost non-existent. Despite recently competing in MMA against Warren Spencer under the Mistfits banner, Conor McGregor’s former BJJ coach hasn’t competed in a top MMA promotion since 2019. He may have gained fame in the influencer world for his crossover fights, but his most famous moment came during the post-UFC 229 brawl.

Dillon Danis was who Khabib Nurmagomedov went after when he jumped over the cage after defeating Conor McGregor. That was a turning point in his professional life because his involvement in that incident proved detrimental to all chances of a possible UFC debut. Danis claims the UFC considers him to be a troublemaker.

Dana White and Co. think trouble follows Dillon Danis, according to a BJJ expert
The UFC 229 brawl shook the MMA world in 2018, and Dana White, Hunter Campbell, and the other execs aren’t very happy with Dillon Danis’ role in inciting that situation. The former Bellator fighter admits that it played a significant role in crushing his dream to compete under the brightest lights in the MMA world. “A 100 percent [the Conor-Khabib brawl created a bad impression]. Because when I go to the UFC’s now, they’ll be like, ‘You’re not allowed to go here’… And that’s why I get into so many fights, because they don’t want to give me security,” Danis told Demetrious Johnson on YouTube.
“They don’t wanna do this, they don’t wanna do that. They don’t want to put me through the back because, like, yeah, they treat me differently because they think that I’m going to start some kind of brawl or something like that,” Danis further stated. McGregor’s former training partner also revealed that an opportunity to be on The Ultimate Fighter was on the table. However, Dana White and his team were afraid that he was going into business for himself.

“I got offered to be on the TUF house, which is actually crazy. And Hunter said that I was going to punch someone in the house and just get out, and then use it for clout or something like that. That was kind of like his thing. And he was like, ‘Just tell him to get more fights,'” Dillon Danis added. “They’re scared that I’m just going to be too crazy. Like the whole Logan [Paul] buildup… I think they think I’m gonna bring all that to the UFC, where it’s like a totally different game, you know.”

Dillon Danis may have offered one reason why he’s not in the UFC, but there could be another one. His inactivity can also play a huge role. Despite the odds looking against him, Danis is still confident that he deserves a main card fight. Here’s what he had to say.
Danis wants a UFC fight on the main card
Dillon Danis may have been fighting in crossover influencer boxing promotions, which is not something Dana White is a big fan of, but he’s been able to get people talking. He has established himself as a polarizing figure, and while some fans may like his antics, others do not, and he realizes this fact. As such, Danis believes he could leverage this in the UFC and fight in a prominent spot instead of competing in competitions like Dana White’s Contender Series.

“I think they’re just scared of me. Like Dana White even said it like, ‘He’s always getting in trouble’… I’m going to fight back. I’m not just gonna sit there and not take it,” Dillon Danis added. “The Contender Series, it’s like, I don’t know. I feel like my name is too big for that. I feel like I need to come in like Ben Askren and fight someone big, be on the main card, because everybody wants to see me get knocked out.”
Dillon Danis can always go back to the Misfits banner for another fight. However, every MMA fighter wishes to join the UFC, and that’s something that he’s also looking forward to should the opportunity present itself. What do you think? Drop your comments below.
