The UFC 284 is knocking at the door with its coveted main event featuring two UFC champions.  Islam Makhachev, the UFC Lightweight Champion, is all set to take on the Australian, Alexander Volkanovski. The Russian’s opponent, Volkanovski, reigns the current Featherweight division of the promotion. ‘Volk’ has proved his worth in the UFC as a champion, beating the very best of his division, like Jose Aldo and Max Holloway. ‘The Great’ will also put his UFC’s no.1 pound-for-pound fighter title on the line for his UFC 284 showdown.

Most UFC fans have already witnessed the superb fight prowess of Volkanovski. But, very few know about the other side of his life, when he is out of the UFC. Reportedly, Volkanovski is a family man outside the Octagon. He lives a happy life outside the UFC with his family, comprising his wife and two daughters.

Volkanovski has a mixed root. His father, Tony Volkanovski, carries a Macedonian heritage and was born in Yugoslavia while his mother, Mary Volkanovski, hails from Greece. His mixed roots encouraged Volkanovski to nickname himself ‘The Great’ referenced from Alexander The Great’s name, who also carried a similar Macedonian-Greek root.

Reportedly, he also has an elder brother who’s a fighter as well. Apart from MMA, ‘Volk’ is a thorough rugby enthusiast. He started off his sports career as a semi-professional rugby player for Warilla Gorillas.

‘The Great’ also loves spending his free time in the kitchen.  His passion for cooking can be well witnessed on his social media posts. But, above all, he is a true family man and attempts to become a good husband and father to his kids.

Alexander Volkanovski’s wife, Emma Volkanovski

Alexander Volkanovski tied the knot with his wife Emma Volkanovski on 12 October 2012. Since then, the couple has been through a loving relationship and a happy married life to date. Volkanovski‘s wife is one of his biggest supporters and has been witnessed at multiple UFC events. She also shares various social media posts from ‘The Great’ on her own accounts.

Emma Volkanovski has been reported as  a fitness maniac. She holds a B.Sc degree in Psychology and graduated from the University of Sydney. Emma also spent most of her childhood in Sydney along with farmer parents, John and Rose Harris, and younger sisters, Jessica and Carmella Harris.

Emma reportedly doesn’t have any professional connections and spends most of her time as a housewife.

Alexander Volkanovski announces birth of his daughter ‘Reign’

Alexander Volkanovski is a blessed man. He already had two beautiful daughters when he became a father once again. This last year, on the 30th of August, ‘Volk’ took to Instagram to reveal to the world the gender and name of his third baby.

“Reign Volkanovski. Baby girl number 3 Long may she reign 🙏 Mummy absolutely smashed it today…love you baby”. He wrote on his Instagram post much to the adore of many fans and fighters. This was after UFC 290 when he defeated  Yair Rodriguez to become the undisputed featherweight champion.

Alexander Volkanovski’s Daughters, Ariana, Airlie, and Reign

Emma and Alexander have two daughters together, named Ariana and Airlie Volkanovski. Ariana is the elder one aged 7 years currently while the age of Airlie is 5 years. ‘Volk’ and Emma are both responsible parents, taking care of each and everything about their daughters.

Both ‘Volk and Emma often post their happy family pictures on their social media profiles. It has also been reported that Volkanovski‘s daughters carry completely different personas. Whenever they’re going for a picture, Ariana would strike a good pose. While Airlie is more of her dad’s daughter and opts to do the fists up for every snap. Meanwhile, Reign is not even a one-year old baby yet and the responsible ‘Volk’ family keeps her pictures away from the public eye for the most part.

They did, however, upload a beautiful few photos with the newborn when Reign turned 4 weeks old. In the picture, the baby herself along with her parents, Alexander Volkanovski and Emma Volkanovski in single pictures and then together. We couldn’t ask for a more beautiful family.

At UFC 284, Alexander Volkanovski lost a close fight to Islam Makhachev via a decision. At UFC 294, he had a shot at redemption but it all fell apart when the Dagestani landed a brutal head kick to his head in the very first round of the bout. ‘Volk’ came tumbling down to the ground and Makhachev would go in to finish the job with devastating punched to finish the knock out.

After the loss, ‘The Great’ was visibly hurt during the press-conferences. He opened up to how not being in camp disturbed him mentally and he would fall off into unhealthy patterns like drinking too often. He accepted the fight only so he could go back into training. However, after the tragic turn of events, ‘Volk’ would take to Instagram to share an update.

In his story, he could be seen with his three daughters enjoying and trying to live his best life. The family man that he is, he’s often seen at family barbecues and seeing him get back to a healthier mindset with his “3 princesses” and just try getting back into shape is what pleases all fans. Now, it looks like the long reigning champion is back to his grips with the competition as he prepares to defend his title against Ilia Topuria at UFC 298. Will you be rooting for him?
