It is no secret where Dana White‘s political loyalties lie. While not a very partisan man, the UFC CEO is good friends with Donald Trump. They are such good friends that he was chosen by the former POTUS to deliver his introductory speech at the Republican National Convention every time he’s run for President.

While White is nothing if not vociferous and full-throated in his support for Trump, taking shots at the Republican nominee’s opponents isn’t really the Power Slap founder’s style. But apparently Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris’ admittedly waffling and awkward answer to Stephen Colbert on the latter’s show so concerned White that he had to react. The UFC CEO took to his Instagram account, warning his followers that this should somehow ‘scare’ them.

“I don’t like to post a lot of political content, but this clip should scare EVERYONE. She is the sitting VP and running for President of the United States. She is incapable of putting a sentence together without a teleprompter and even she appears to know she is in way over her head. This election is very important and this along with the many other clips of her attempting to answer questions should SCARE THE S— OUT OF YOU!!!” White wrote.

The comments section of Dana White‘s post was divided, with Trump supporters agreeing wholeheartedly with his message and others pointing out that the former President wasn’t exactly known for his loquaciousness. But the most notable comment came from Donald Trump Jr., who had a good laugh at Harris’ faux pas. “She’s so brilliant that literally no one is smart enough to understand WTF she’s ever saying. LOL,” he wrote. But why is Dana White such a strong supporter of Donald Trump?

Dana White and Donald Trump’s two-decade (platonic) love affair

It’s not difficult to see why Dana White has such respect and love for Donald Trump. After all, the UFC CEO credits the former President for saving the UFC! The story goes back to the early 2000s, when MMA was considered an uncouth, savage sport, famously called ‘human cock-fighting’ by former presidential candidate John McCain.

In 2001, Dana White and the Fertitta brothers had taken over the promotion that was literally struggling for survival- losing money hand over fist, and relegated to holding events in rec centers in tier-three cities. And it was in these dire straits that Donald Trump threw the Las Vegas-based promotion a lifeboat.

That same year Trump himself called Dana White and invited him to hold a couple of events in his Trump Taj Mahal in Atlanta. And the UFC, desperately in need of a big, exciting venue, jumped on the opportunity and put on UFC 30, 31, and 32 there. This boosted the promotion’s popularity and made it easier for Dana White and co. to secure big venues for their fights going forward. And Dana White has not forgotten that favor, as his aforementioned Instagram post clearly shows.
