Ronda Rousey is one of the greatest female fighters to enter the UFC octagon. The saga started when Trump in an interview revealed that Rousey liked him. The former US President was asked if he would allow women to fight in the military. Trump replied, “I’ll tell you what. I know some women that are just… Ronda Rousey is an example who likes me.”

While Trump seemed confident with his statement, Rousey definitely did not adhere to it. In an interview with CNN, Rousey revealed she wouldn’t vote for Trump. The fighter said, “I wouldn’t vote for him. I just really wouldn’t trust that guy with running my country. That’s all… I don’t want a reality TV star to be running my country.

It is clear Trump did not expect this reaction from Ronda Rousey. However, if one has learned anything from Ronda Rousey, it is to expect the unexpected from the fighter.

No female fighter had ever stepped into the octagon until UFC 157: Rousey vs Carmouche. The UFC never signed female fighters. UFC President Dana White once also said, “Women will never fight in the UFC.”

However, this stance by White quickly changed when Ronda Rousey hit the scene. A former Olympic medal-winning Judoka, Rousey transitioned into the sport MMA. After some amateur fights, Rousey had a very successful pro career. The fighter was finishing her opponents with armbars in the first round, and that became the talk of the town.

This caught the attention of UFC President Dana White. Rousey was then signed to the promotion in 2012. While many declined to fight her, Liz Carmouche stepped up to the challenge. At UFC 157, the duo fought for the UFC bantamweight title, in the sold-out Honda Center in California.

While Rousey found herself in trouble early, she eventually submitted Carmouche with yet another armbar and defended her UFC bantamweight championship.
