The first and only BMF Champion, Jorge Masvidal, is all set to return to the octagon to lock horns with Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. Before hitting the octagon, Masvidal clearly expressed his anger towards Khamzat Chimaev for being ambitious without being able to manage his weight at UFC 279. Chimaev is considered one of the best fighters in the promotion who still remains an undefeated fighter. Nonetheless, Borz’s fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 279 didn’t come to fruition, as he weighed by several pounds.

‘Gamebred’ pointed out this incident and lashed out at Chimaev, stating that he does not deserve to call out the middleweight champion, Alex Pereira, as he can’t even concentrate on the first step, which is maintaining the weight for his division. The 38-year-old mentioned that this is the main reason why no fighters want to fight Chimaev. Some of the allegations made by ‘Gamebred’ were huge. He said that ‘Borz’ might be on steroids to gain weight to move up.

Jorge Masvidal lashes out at Khamzat Chimaev

Masvidal was on The MMA Hour and in a conversation with Ariel Helwani. He said, You miss weight by 8.5 pounds, get the f*k out of here. You’re still talking about nobody wants to fight you, go fking make weight before you talk about fighting. That’s the first thing. Don’t do steroids and make the fking weight that you agreed upon as a fking man. You’re going to miss by eight pounds and think it’s all cool and be calling people out? Get the f*k out.

Speaking on the same topic, Masvidal said that ‘Borz’ has no right to call out great fighters of the division without concentrating on his weight. Additionally, he added that it’s a world championship, so he needs to treat it with the seriousness it deserves.

Masvidal feels that even though Chimaev stands at 12-0, he has not defeated a single top-fifteen guy. This makes him unworthy of a title bout. Furthermore, according to ‘Gamebred’, he has no right to stay in the welterweight division after missing weight.

The disappointment of ‘Borz’

Chimaev craves a title fight after fighting against the former title challenger, Gilbert Burns, and later, Kevin Holland. These victories paved the way for the opportunity of a title bout. However, the weight miss resulted in the loss of opportunity. At the moment, Chimaev is disappointed at not having a worthy opponent.

"Like many, my journey into the beautiful game began by watching the mesmerizing Lionel Messi, as his impeccable vision on the pitch and role as a playmaker, meticulously calculating the path to goal always amazed me. This fascination with the finer details of soccer strategy naturally extended to my interest in content strategy. However, my zeal for being a soccer content analyst is not only because of Messi's magic, as I am a keen follower of the Becks as well. While in David Beckham, it was a special affinity for his mastery of crosses, passes, and set pieces, in Victoria Beckham, the fashion queen, I find inspiration in how she masterfully navigated the world of aesthetics and brand identity. This unique blend of admiration for both the tactical intricacies of soccer and the world of fashion and entertainment helps me to cover the game from angles that seamlessly balance sport and entertainment. Before joining EssentiallySports, I worked as a content analyst as well. A Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature from a premiere institute has helped me hone my writing skills and given me a unique perspective on the world of sports. Interestingly, besides soccer, I also extensively covered UFC, especially the Joe Rogan podcast. In my free time, I enjoy reading and keeping up with the latest developments in the world of sports.
