Former MMA fighter-turned-actor Gina Carano has been dealing with a legal issue recently. She is engaged in a legal battle with entertainment giants Walt Disney Co. Nevertheless, Carano took to social media to reminisce about one of the biggest women’s MMA fights, involving her and a former fighter, on its anniversary.

Gina Carano was one of the pioneers of women’s MMA, even if most people believe that Ronda Rousey was the one who took women’s MMA mainstream. The 41-year-old shared a commemorative and inspirational message regarding her fight against Julie Kedzie in 2007. Let’s see what Carano had to say.

Although Gina Carano is now a movie star, she did not fail to talk about one of the most significant moments in her MMA career as well as women’s MMA. On the anniversary of her fight against Julie Kedzie, she mentioned how important that fight was for females to get their foot on the gas in the sport of MMA. Carano said, On Feb 10, 2007 I fought and won against Julie Kedzie on Showtime making it a ground breaking moment for women in the mixed martial arts.”

The former MMA star-turned-actor also mentioned that her fight against Cris Cyborg had a lot of significance, too. However, that fight would not have happened if Gina Carano hadn’t fought Julie Kiedze in the first place. “This is a fight I believe will go down in history as the fight that changed the game for female mma fighters, yes the Cyborg fight was groundbreaking as well but that wouldn’t have happened without this fight,” Carano added. Meanwhile, she also shared some words of motivation, as she was going through a tough time in her life.

However, dealing with lawsuits is still a tough task, but Carano has urged her fans and followers on social media to keep working hard for their dreams. She further stated, “Don’t let people squash your spirit just because they can’t see or feel your dream.”

She mentioned that there will be people who may look down on someone’s efforts to reach a particular goal. However, Gina Carano mentioned that it is important to have faith in oneself for things to work out for the better. “Let them laugh and mock while you stay dedicated to what is in your heart. It’ll all work itself out in the end. Have faith,” the 41-year-old added.
