Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush are set to meet in a highly anticipated lightweight bout at UFC 289. Oliveira, a former champion, currently holds the No. 1 contender spot in the UFC lightweight division, while Dariush is ranked No. 4. The fight is scheduled to be the co-main event of the UFC 289 card, which will take place in Vancouver, marking the return of the UFC to Canada after a hiatus since 2019.

Oliveira is known for his impressive wins but recently suffered a submission loss to Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title. Dariush, on the other hand, is riding an eight-fight win streak and is considered a top contender in the division. A recent Instagram video showed Charles Oliveira meeting Beneil Dariush and his daughter but the encounter turned awkward real soon.

Both Oliveira and Darisuh are loved by fans of the sport. They are both intensely competitive and disciplined within the ring. crashmma uploaded an Instagram video of Oliveira meeting Dariush and his daughter. Fans couldn’t help but appreciate the sportsmanship and camaraderie between the two, despite their upcoming co-main event.

“Two of my favs in the division. Dariush gonna win and smash Islam.” read a comment. Another commented, “Huge fan of both of these men“. Oliveira fans showed up to show their immense love and support for the athlete. “I absolutely love how nice and humble Charles is. Deserve nothing but the best in life.”,  “Charles is always showing class” and  “I love charlesssss” – these were some of the comments for the Lightweight fighter.

Bringing to light the fact that both the fighters are equally deserving of a title shot, a fan said, “I’m a Charles Oliveira fan, but honestly both these guys deserve a title shot. It’s gonna be a war.” 

One fan commented on the mutual respect between the two fighters saying, “Love the respect.” while another fan commented, “I’ve never wanted to see a fight less simply because I don’t want either man to lose”.

Oliveira’s chance at redemption or Dariush’s rightful title shot?

Both fighters have their sights set on a title shot, and Oliveira specifically aims to earn a rematch against Makhachev, after UFC 280. The winner of the Oliveira vs. Dariush bout could potentially be next in line for a title shot in the lightweight division. However, very few fighters are as deserving of a title shot as Dariush. Come June 11, the two fighters will have to give it their best shot at the co-main event of UFC 289, to earn a chance to be fighting for the Lightweight belt against Islam Makhachev.
