The former UFC bantamweight champion, Cody Garbrandt, will start a new chapter in his UFC career as ‘No Love’ has made a move to the flyweight division of the UFC. Garbrandt, who is looking to capture UFC gold in a second weight class, will take on Kai Kara-France in December.

One fight that fans wanted to see for Garbrandt was a showdown against the striking sensation, Sean O’Malley. However, the former champion’s move means the chances of that happening anytime soon are gone. Garbrandt noted that fact and warned ‘Suga’ that he will return to bantamweight.

Don’t worry Suga I’ll be back after I grab this strap, maybe you’ll be in the top 15 by then ?? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️,” wrote Garbrandt. Ironically, he posted a photo of O’Malley’s UFC 252 loss against Marlon Vera. O’Malley injured his ankle in that fight and suffered the first loss of his career.

‘Suga’ last defeated UFC newcomer Kris Moutinho at UFC 264. Garbrandt, on the other hand, lost against Rob Font in his last fight. The former champion has now lost 3 out of his last 4 fights in the UFC.

Cody Garbrandt vs Sean O’Malley: A fight for the future?

Garbrandt is one of the fastest and most powerful knockout artists in the UFC. He has a few highlight-reel finishes in his UFC career so far. So has O’Malley. ‘Suga’, despite his personality, is a unique talent. His antics might fool people into thinking otherwise at times, but his skills are well appreciated among fans.

Needless to say, a fight between the two striking sensations promises to be a barn-burner. So, fans want to see that fight take place at some point in time. But, for now, Garbrandt has shifted his focus to add the UFC flyweight strap to his collection. O’Malley, meanwhile, will look to establish himself at the upper echelon of the bantamweight division.
