Colby Covington has continuously made headlines ever since he became the backup for UFC 286. Covington prepared himself to become the backup within a very short time. The UFC President, Dana White, was impressed with the effort put in by him. Soon after the bout between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards came to an end, White announced that ‘Chaos’ would be the next title challenger.  In a recent interview, the former interim UFC Welterweight champion seemed highly confident about defeating Edwards. The 35-year-old detailed his possible future opponents after he emerges victorious against the current Welterweight champion. Surprisingly, the list included UFC superstar Conor McGregor and current Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

Colby Covington talks about money fights

Covington was having an interview with LowKick MMA. During the conversation, he detailed future money fights. He said, There’s a lot of other bigger fights after I win my world title who I’m gonna defend against first. So it could be you know the Leon rematch, but he’s not gonna want it after I break him in that UFC Octagon. He’s never going to want to rematch, you know.”

He further added, “It could be a Usman Trilogy if he’s still hobbling around and not fully retired yet, you know. Conor is always in play. He’s right there, you know. Also, the guy that’s cutting off chromosomes from his body trying to kill his body, Islam Makhachev might come up. Champion versus champion… Drago versus Rocky so there’s some great storylines with that fight you know and then obviously Conor and you know, he is always in the play.From the interview, it was evident that Covington was looking for matchups that could excite the audience and sell well.

The big names on the list of ‘Chaos’

‘Chaos’ sees a great future ahead of him, which includes fights against some of the biggest stars in the UFC. Covington, like every other MMA fighter, is eyeing Conor McGregor. A fight against the Irishman means more money and fame. ‘Chaos’ wants to fight McGregor to achieve more power and money in the promotion.

Apart from ‘The Notorious’, he also has Makhachev on his list, who is currently reigning as the Lightweight king. Before everything else, Covington now has to face ‘Rocky’ and win the bout. According to the decision of the UFC boss, the winner among the two will face Belal Muhammad as he recently won against Gilbert Burns at UFC 288.
