The much-anticipated middleweight clash between Khamzat Chimaev and Dricus Du Plessis is just around the corner. While there has been no announcement of the date and venue, the Chechen fighter is already making adjustments to his game. So what exactly is he doing? Well, it seems like he is roping in Darren Till, his longtime friend. Back in late 2022, their unlikely bromance took the MMA world by storm. But when Darren Till parted ways with the UFC to pursue a boxing career, his close training bond with Khamzat Chimaev gradually faded.
Khamzat Chimaev and Dricus Du Plessis are now on a collision course, with their title clash expected to go down later this year, especially after recent rumors of an injury to the champ were quickly dismissed. And with Darren Till having already shared the Octagon with Du Plessis in their hard-fought 2022 battle, his experience could prove to be a major advantage for Chimaev as he prepares for the biggest fight of his career.
While speaking to Bloody Elbow during a chat, Till said, “He asked me to come over and help with the striking stuff. So I said I would. If the stars align for that, I’d love to get over for that… I spend loads of time in Dubai, my mate Bren is out there.”

Till even went on to make a prediction for the fight and feels Chimaev would submit the champion. But what does the South African champion feel about the new partnership? Well, he has once again come out and mocked his next and former rival.
Black Belt MMA took to their Instagram account to share the news with the fans. After hearing the news, Du Plessis commented on the post, “Good, the two of them will finally have something in common.” ‘Stillknocks’ has always believed that he has the skillset to go past the challenge of Chimaev. And for Till, he has already defeated him during their clash in 2022.

When Till faced off against Du Plessis, the fight didn’t start in his favor—he had a rough opening round. But in the second, he found his rhythm and began to dominate, shifting momentum clearly in his direction. Heading into the third, it looked like Till was on track for a decision win or, at worst, a draw. That was until Du Plessis turned the tide with a takedown and sealed the deal with a submission, snatching victory in the final moments.
However, for Chimaev, he would look not to repeat the same mistake his friend did in 2o22. Many experts and fighters have already started making predictions for the fight, and Belal Muhammad has also done the same.

Belal Muhammad picks his favorite between Khamzat Chimaev and Dricus Du Plessis
Belal Muhammad is a fighter who is never shy about speaking his heart out. With the welterweight division in flux and uncertainty swirling around the middleweight title picture due to rumors of a Dricus Du Plessis injury, ‘Remember The Name’ looked to step in for a clash with Chimaev.
Speaking with clarity and conviction, the reigning welterweight champ made it clear he’s not just open to facing Khamzat Chimaev at 185 pounds—he’s been actively pursuing the showdown. However, that fight is still a distant dream as the Chechen fighter is now ready to take on the champion. So, who is Muhammad rooting for in the clash? It seems ‘Borz’ is his favorite for the fight.

During a conversation with Submission Radio, the champion pointed out the weaknesses and the strengths of the challenger. He said, “He goes so hard in the first round and comes out like a missile,”. ‘Bully B’ further added, “For me, it’s just about taking him to the later rounds and start drowning him.” However, Muhammad feels even if the fight goes the distance it will be ‘Borz’ who will come out on top and said, “I think he’ll walk through Du Plessis and become champion,”. There is no doubt that this particular fight will test the South African champion the most in his career.
However, with ‘Stillknocks’, we do know that he always finds a way to win his fights. Who do you think will win between the two? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
