“Dricus Is a Good Dude” – Sean Strickland Makes a Stunning U-Turn on Du Plessis After Ugly Brawl at UFC 296

Sean Strickland has made a stunning revelation about how he feels about Dricus Du Plessis! The comments come after both men were involved in a brawl at UFC 296 in Las Vegas. Footage of the incident showed Strickland leaping from his seat to attack the South African before security intervened and separated the two.

The altercation stemmed from the back-and-forth that happened between the two at a press conference before the event. Du Plessis had remarked on Strickland’s childhood which seemed to have triggered the middleweight champion who responded with a tirade of curse words. However, in a recent post on social media, Strickland revealed a different side of the story. Let’s take a look at what he had to say.

UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, is known by fans for his unfiltered persona. However, he found the tables turned on him as Dricus Du Plessis seemed to have struck a nerve when he responded to his comments by referring to Strickland’s difficult childhood.

At the UFC 296 event, both men got involved in a clash that was undoubtedly a continuation of their press conference incident. But in a recent Instagram post talking about his appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, Strickland responded with a heartfelt message about how he feels about Du Plessis.

His statement was a response to a fan’s comment telling the fighter to “take it just as good as you dish it out”. However, Strickland’s comment indicated that his actions weren’t a result of personal animosity towards Du Plessis, but rather a part of being an MMA fighter.

He stated, “If I had a piece on me that day, we probably both wouldn’t be here today…Dricus is a good dude, I’ve always liked him, there is MMA and there is real life…it wasn’t his fault… but that’s a sword I die on”

On the other hand, Du Plessis, in an interview after the clash, revealed that he didn’t really care about ‘triggering’ Strickland with his comments!

‘Stillknocks’ wants Strickland to show more ‘composure’

In an interview with Megan Olivi after the conclusion of UFC 296, Du Plessis was asked about the incident with Strickland. He revealed that he found the whole situation amusing and stated that, “Things happen and nobody got hurt, all is good.

Nevertheless, the South African also stated that he doesn’t really care about hurting Strickland’s feelings. He claimed that, “I don’t care about him being triggered. He goes, and he says whatever he wants and everybody’s just used to him…”

Du Plessis further went on to state that he believes that fighters should be prepared to receive trash talk after they dish it out. He also downplayed the grudge’s impact going into their clash for the title, suggesting that Strickland needs to work on maintaining his composure.

The South African’s candid remarks reveal his focus on the upcoming fight and his belief in handling both verbal jabs and pressure with ease.
