Covington’s interest in taking on Dustin Poirier was recently shut down by the Louisiana native. Poirier showed his interest in taking on Nate Diaz rather than fighting Colby.

As of now, Israel Adesanya’s next opponent is Jared Cannonier. The Nigerian has shown no interest in taking on Covington and has slammed him for even calling out his name. To get to Adesanya, Covington may have to take on someone like Robert Whittaker. This will set the stage for a title shot against the middleweight champion.
