In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Colby Covington took a dig at ‘The Last Stylebender.’ Covington spoke about the current competition at 185 lbs and also questioned the champion’s abilities in the octagon.

“I think I could definitely go up to 85 (185), and fight Adesanya… He doesn’t have a dance partner right now. I mean, some of the guys they’re trying to line him up with, its unoriginal.”

“He can’t stop my wrestling. I’ll pick him up and drop him on his fu*king head, you know. He’s a cardio kickboxer. They got enough cardio kickboxers in women’s classes around the US, you know. Like I could go join one of those as well. But you know I decided to pick up hard, grueling American wrestling. So I don’t think Adesanya can stop my American wrestling. And I don’t think he’s that good a fighter,” he added.

What are the chances of Colby Covington taking on Israel Adesanya?

Covington’s interest in taking on Dustin Poirier was recently shut down by the Louisiana native. Poirier showed his interest in taking on Nate Diaz rather than fighting Colby.

As of now, Israel Adesanya’s next opponent is Jared Cannonier. The Nigerian has shown no interest in taking on Covington and has slammed him for even calling out his name. To get to Adesanya, Covington may have to take on someone like Robert Whittaker. This will set the stage for a title shot against the middleweight champion.
