Laura Sanko is one of the most prominent names in the UFC. Although not fighting, Sanko is winning the hearts of the fans by lending her voice to the promotion. She has retired from professional fighting. However, the 39-year-old still trains in MMA to keep herself physically active.

Recently, during one such sparring session, Sanko suffered a huge black eye which was clearly visible on her face before an event. She even posted about it on her social media. Although it might be normal for professional fighters to suffer such injuries, common people don’t see it usually.

While talking about the same in a recent interview with Blockasset, Sanko revealed how she manages her work and personal life simultaneously. During the conversation, ‘Fancy’ also talked about a personal life incident when she got a bruise on her eye.

She said, “It just kind of depends. He is still only eight. So he is not quite in the demographic where like his friends are super into it. Maybe that will change when he is like 13 14 and up.”

“And the other day when I dropped him off. I had a huge black eye from sparring and I walked him in the building. And his little friend I could, just as he was like walking away. They were walking away toward their class. I just heard his little friend go, dude, what happened to your mom’s face?” Sanko concluded.

Laura Sanko still wants to get back to fighting

During an interview, Sanko revealed that although she has retired from professional fighting, she still has some competition left in her and wants to prove to the people that she is made for the fight life. The 39-year-old is also confident that she could have had a solid career in the UFC.

“Paige VanZant and I debuted on the same card, same night, we both got wins, both got finishes. I know that if there had been an atomweight division in the UFC. I know that I could have gone on to have a solid career in the UFC.” Sanko said to The Volume Sports.

“There’s no doubt in my mind. There’s not that much footage of me out there fighting. And I’m so much better than the footage that does exist.” Sanko added.

“That’s the irritating part because my growth as a fighter really happened after I quit competing actively. So there’s definitely a part of me that wants to get back to some form of competition just to prove to people I’m about that life.” Sanko said.

‘Fancy’ turned professional after a stunning 4-1 amateur record under her name. She made her debut at Invicta FC and won her first professional fight in 2013. And with that one win, she retired from professional fighting and took the mic job. Nevertheless, ‘Fancy’ is doing great with it.
