Rivalry! It never ends between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. The two adversaries have faced off three times, with ‘The Diamond’ eme͏rging victorious in two of those bouts against the Irishman. Poirier hinted at a fourth match with McGregor in the coming months but is unsure about the outcome.

Daniel Cormier has come forward with a piece of advice for Dustin Poirier if he were to face Conor McGregor in the future. ‘DC’ is of the opinion that Poirier should take the opportunity to fight ‘The Notorious’ without any hesitation. Why would he say that?

The former double champion, Daniel Cormier, has advised the Louisiana native to face Conor McGregor without any hesitation. In his new YouTube video, ‘DC’ said, “Before they fought the second time, I had a couple of conversations with Dustin. Him fighting McGregor, I was in a Home Depot and laughing at him, and I were on the phone having a conversation about the fight, the financials, and everything, which he’s done exceedingly well in those fights.” 

He further added, “I was just really happy to kind of help him as he was making his decision on the fight and everything. But now that he has beaten McGregor two in a row, there should not be any hesitancy to fight him again.”

It is important to note that it was Conor McGregor who issued a challenge to Dustin Poirier through a tweet. The Irish fighter, in anticipation of his return, has challenged multiple rivals including Poirier and Nate Diaz.

Poirier and McGregor first faced each other at UFC 178, which saw ‘The Diamond’ lose via TKO. However, he avenged his loss at UFC 257 and UFC 264. Nonetheless, what was Poirier’s statement about yet another fight against McGregor?

Will Dustin Poirier fight McGregor again?

Dustin Poirier, in his recent statement, hinted that he might face McGregor, but there was a bit of vagueness in his account. Poirier said “We’ll see. I probably would try to shut him up once and for all. But even if I slap his a** around again, he’s still gonna be chatting.”

He further added, “Two in one against him. I don’t really see another reason for it. But it’d be a huge fight.”

Looking at their history of rivalry, Poirier holds the bar above McGregor’s head. 2-1 is the tally of their fight and it is important to note that Poirier was the one who gave McGregor his career-ending injury. At UFC 264, ‘Mystic Mac’ lost via TKO. He sustained fractures to his left tibia, and fibula during the fight. As a result, he was sidelined for over two years.
